This is the reason why I go outsuiting. Smiles on children's face. The joy I give is nothing next to the joy the kid gives back. Just one little child's smile made my day even through all my day struggles. This was also a reason why I want my fursona to act as cute and innocent for kids as much as possible. i like how at first, there's one or two suiters next to the kid, then within minutes, suiters have swarmed this kid hahah. kids love furries, were like giant stuffed animals to them! my nephew loves my suit, and it's funny because he doesn't realize it's me in there. so when i take it off (in a seperate room from him) he'll freak out and say "GRACE GRACIE GRACE YOU JUST MISSED A GIANT DOGGY" and its the cutest thing. please introduce your children to fursuiters before they grow up and start being the jerks who are rude to us online for no reason lol. trust me, your child will love it and youll be happy seeing your child smiling and carrying on as the kid in this video :)

+nuke angel dragon As someone whos been in the fandom for 9, almost 10 years, I can offer a lot of advice. I apologize in advance as this will probably be long but I'm sure at least some of it will help. First of all, there's no age limit to the fandom nor do you need a suit to 'be a furry' (enjoying and wanting to be part of the fandom already makes you a furry), I joined the furry fandom when I was 9, I'm now 18, but its only now that I'm making my own fursuit and going to be attending furry conventions, I also plan to start making fursuits to sell in a year or two. So age is only an issue where the fursuits and conventions are concerned- by all means you could make a fursuit, but I'd advise against it since you're still growing and it would suck to grow out of something you spend a lot of time and money on, as for buying one most commissioners wont take orders from anyone under the age of at least 16 since kids and even young teenagers can be very unreliable with paying for the suit (these things can cost anywhere from $500 to $6000), and again it would be bad to buy something so expensive only to grow out of it. A lot of younger furries that attend conventions usually just get a tail since thats something you wont grow out of, I've seen a few with cat or dog ear headbands as well. As for conventions most wont let anyone under 13 in unless you have your parents with you. As for telling your parents- you don't really need to tell them at all, but don't hide that you're a furry. Being a furry is a hobby, and you shouldn't have to 'come out' about a hobby. I was in the same boat as you when I was around your age- my parents only knew of the sexual side of furries, so I never spoke about it until they approached me and asked about it. By 'not hiding it' I mean simply go about your furry business without worry that they might see it- for example I've always been a bit of an artist and would draw all the time, I never hid any of my furry artwork (in fact I kinda left it out on purpose), also if I ever watched any furry videos on youtube I never paused the video or closed the tab if they walked in. When they did ask me about it they knew me well enough (you know- being my parents and all) to not jump to conclusions and assume I was into the sexual side of things, so seeing what I was doing changed their minds about the fandom completely. Fast forward to now and my mum is 100% supportive, even going as far to offer to help with my fursuit should I need it and has even helped me save up to get to furry conventions, and of course is always interested in seeing my art; furry or otherwise. Not to mention she LOVES my fursona, and we actually even had an in-depth conversation about how the sexual side of the fandom isnt that weird after all, considering the crazy things some people are into haha. I can assure you they'll understand as long as you simply set a good example for the fandom- its actually good that you're so young, as you have plenty of time to show that good side without rushing or telling them point-blank (while it works sometimes, it usually fails since its kinda confronting especially to someone who thinks of 'furry' as a negative thing). So in short, just be yourself and don't try to hide that you're a furry, your parents should come to accept it eventually, and who knows? Maybe they'll end up seeing it as a good thing or even get a little involved themselves like mine have.
