Long Island is about 120 miles long. The rates vary depending on where in Long Island you come from; also, commuters typically get monthly passes. The most expensive being $468 per month. I'm not sure it would be cheaper to pay the $9 because you also pay a toll to enter Manhattan from Long Island/Queens, unless routing very much out of the way for one of the "free" bridges. A lot of businesses cover parking or at least subsidizes for their employees, but that varies as well.
@TechJolt3d5 күн бұрын
The subway is 2.90 now and going to be 3 later. 3.25 is for single ride tickets i'm pretty sure, but you can just use a metrocard/omny card/credit card/phone with nfc. You are not parking in manhattan as a regular commuter for free, you are probably getting some sort of parking. You also have to add in added maintenance cost to your vehicle, and account for the time you lose in traffic. If you think the 9 dollars is worth, then pay it and you'll have less traffic for yourself. Its an incentive like a sin tax is.

You are forgetting to factor in the daily parking charge once you get to the city. Now the $14.50 is looking a lot more attractive.

Is this in a Blue Zone...

Well it seems more people are taking the train instead of contributing to congestion into the zone and that’s a good thing. Car drivers will pay for so much for the car and related costs but then whine about having to pay their fair share for the effect that cars have on congestion (if anything the congestion pricing should be higher). Things don’t just happen in a bubble, bring out more buses to accommodate people to stations, it’s a connected system of cause and effect.

We knew this would happen. At least in the brought, people ought to get rid of all these cars, start taking public transportation in stead. Sick of all these incompetent drivers .They can't drive or park and a lot of them honk their horns up and down our streets at all hours. Sick and tired of them all. If they can afford cars, they can afford the 9 dollars.

True that they waste too much money. Also true that this was a necessary thing to implement. Cars have no business being in Manhattan. I would support congestion pricing even if they literally just burned all the money.

If the congestion pricing changes driving to trains then the city will fail to hit the financing goal for commuter line repairs. What’s plan B?
