Im not pro-congestion pricing plan, I do see the benefits, but that is if it’s in a perfect world run by a non-greedy organization. But because it is NYC and MTA, the money is just going to funnel into high executive’s and politicians’ pocket. My thing is, why do people that live within the congestion zone need to pay to come home? There are working class/blue collar that travel outside of Manhattan to work.

Prices for congestion, bridge/tunnel toll, and on top of it tariffs. Living and commuting to NYC will be impossible. And for those that could work remotely and are forced to go back to the office are probably the most upset. If food prices are up 2025 does not look great so far.

I definitely noticed a significant drop in the number of cars today, but it's too soon to tell. It's the first day, and it was frigid AF ain't nobody want to go anywhere in this weather.

That's because the holidays is over and a lot of people are exhausted. Besides Monday is always a light traffic day.

It doesn’t matter if it’s cold out, people still have to go to work. Also if anything, people would be more likely to drive over taking the train if the weather is cold and frigid like this. Lots of people who have cars but prefer taking the train for some trips, like going to work in Manhattan, lots of them might opt out if it’s cold out, so if this weather was nice and not cold, the roads would be even less congested

all you are doing is moving congestion from one place to another place. we aren't stupid. its just to make money. Now you will have more traffic on highway and all around Manhattan, Brooklyn, NJ and upper Manhattan.

Without proper planning, development strains roads, public transit, and other infrastructure. It can also create congestion and pollution, and often the burden falls on individuals, like drivers, rather than developers or planners.

Manhattan's attraction to me was Chinatown as I go there to eat. I say "was", because I won't go there any more. The Chinese restaurants in New Jersey are welcoming this congestion charge, because so many people are staying in Jersey for the same goods and services they used to get in Manhattan. This charge is meant to improve quality of life for the rich.
@darkwoodmovies
@darkwoodmovies 16 күн бұрын
If "the rich" mean people who live in Manhattan, then yeah. Our streets aren't just there as a convenience for people who choose to live in suburbs or cheaper parts of the metro area.

Calling Donald Trump pragmatic is a damn reach. The Fort Lee mayor is another in line to kiss Trump’s *ss. 🤣 I’m on the fence with congestion pricing .. I’m a sole proprietor who has to drive for my living so I don’t want the additional expense, at the same time I do agree that congestion pricing would ease congestion and with less cars on the roads it will be better for the environment and communities..also, the subway needs additional funding source instead of raising fares constantly, which is burdensome to lower income New Yorkers. Most of the people, not all, who are complaining are New Jersey residents. NJ nor the federal government should be telling New York how to manage our city and state.

I agree. The best response To this charge is to do as noted and: not buy anything in ew York City. While any one person may not matter to New York City if everyone decides not to spend the city will notice this is a net loose to them.

The guy who lives in Park Slope shouldn't be driving into Manhattan anyway. There is public transit in Park Slope that would take you right to 59th street where this interview took place. If you want to drive then you should be paying the congestion pricing as you are contributing to air pollution, and congestion on the streets. If you live NYC and near the subway (like a 5-10 minute walk) then you shouldn't be driving if you work within NYC.
@ianchu8232

Then tell those people to stop pushing people onto subway tracks. I have lived and travelled to over 10 countries. I can feel comfortable dozing off on the subways in all countries, except in New York.

@@ianchu8232 That's a relatively recent thing, and it's been happening everywhere across the USA (crimes like this, I mean). They need to build those screen doors (which this can help fund), among other improvements. But America will never become a real country until it figures out that mental healthcare isn't socialism.

3:54 cap, you did not need to wake up earlier. Park slope is a very transit accessible neighborhood. You have the G, F, R, N and D trains. You have many convenient ways of getting to Manhattan, ways that are lots of the time faster than driving. Like if you go to 43rd street and 10th avenue in Manhattan from 7th Avenue and Windsor place in park slope, when you look for directions and you select drive, it shows you how to get there, but then tells you to also consider taking the subway because it’s faster. It’s just that good. At worst this guy is getting up an extra 15 minutes earlier
