Parliament Session: Congress MP Shafi Parambil on Friday moved a private member’s resolution in the Lok Sabha on appropriate measures to regulate airfare. He highlighted the plight of migrant workers in the Gulf region who are mostly unskilled or semi-skilled with limited income and the unscrupulous increase in airfare during vacation seasons dragged them into a huge debt trap.

Not only compare to asia or middle east. Even inside europe if we travel from italy to sweden we pay just 50 euros even less and if we fly from srinagar to delhi we pay 150 euros. thanks for raising this issue

Even domestic flights need to be regulated including the laws for refunds, partial refunds and how these guys behave with consumers. The top management and decision makers behave not only like they are a 'cartel' but they control the air transport! Ground staff is helpless. Pilots and crew, I salute; they are the only reason why airlines are running.

Here is another example, when I checked few days ago for a flight ticket charge, it was charging around 70000 Rs from Dubai to Trivandrum. While the same airline on the same day was charging only 40000 from Dubai to Paris, France, which is much further away than India. The reason as that European countries are regulating ticket prices for the benefit of their citizens while our country is not.
