WASHINGTON, D.C. | Rep. Brian Babin, R-Texas, says his bill on birthright citizenship, The Birthright Citizenship Act, will END “loopholes” in the 14th Amendment and prevent illegal immigrants from entering the country only to have their children born on American soil.
“This is one of the most abused aspects of our immigration system,” the Texas lawmaker says. Babin says he “welcomes” legal challenges and hopes the Supreme Court takes up the case to render a “final” interpretation of the 14th Amendment.

Australia had the same problem with foreigners taking advantage of the system so they changed their c|it|zenship laws, so now one parent needs to be a c|tizen or a permanent resident.

We know several people from another country a prominent persons that came to the US to have their babies delivered here to get birthright citizenship. US birthright citizenship is being used as a vehicle by rich people from other countries to gain access to the US.

This has already been to the supreme court, and they ruled that a child receives citizenship from its parent so whatever country the parent is a citizen of is the childs citizenship too They specifically stated that children born of foreign parents are NOT citizens of the USA. This ruling has been ignored for so long that people are no longer aware that foreign parents can't give American citizenship to their children.

where in the constitution does it give illegals this right. he's correct it was for those in this country that where freed from slavery. for them and their children to become citizens of this country, 14th admendment was only for them, not anyone else, coming into the country.

Trump knows that having the court define whether the 14th amendment was meant to include citizenship for children of parents where neither are citizens of the US, is quicker than trying to change the 14th amendment which could take many years.

Court might ask in that case if Trump is ready to loose his citizenship as his entire family is considered ILLEGAL immigrants once. When you make rules, you got to make sure you yourself followed them in the past. He is stopping LEGAL immigrants kids as well to have birthright citizenship with is cruel on the part of the just born’s with this new rule.

Ireland had a similar situation. Nigerian women coming into Dublin 9 months pregnant and having their babies in Dublin. This was stopped and mother was given the choice of leaving with baby or she was flown back to Africa on her own without the child. Abuse is everywhere

I’m absolutely supporting this congressman as a U.S. citizen. President Trump is 100% right. We must stop this abuse immediately. How come a foreigner who has no ties and roots to the USA come here and get the baby delivered and the baby gets Citizenship? This way we are making our citizenship cheap and our passport value cheap. Look at Middle East countries it’s so hard to get a Middle East passport. This is one of the biggest reason when someone ask us where are you from? And we say USA in return they ask us where you are originally from? We must create a race as an American and we should stop immediately birth tourism. A born U.S. citizen can be only a person who’s mother or father is a USA citizen or a LPR.

By no means did the 14th amendment grant constitutional rights to all foreigners. The 14th amendment didn’t negate the immigration laws. Freeing slaves has nothing to do with immigrants.

This is the old English words used lots of times in government papers. So going to break down. Naturalized mean a denouncing of old country and pledging to new. They did that during revolutionary times. Subject to the jurisdiction there of or the court system sounds like a what happens when you apply for citizenship. You denounce the old country and you are brought in by legal system to citizenship. So a person doesn't automatically become a citizen or born into citizenship. The slaves were accounted for by others to have lived in the jurisdiction of the court. And the Indians. The illigal immigrants have never to my knowledge denounced there native country or pledged to ours. You asked for oppinions😊

Y everyone is addressing illegal immigrant.. they are targeting legal immigrants as well. America should close legal immigration as well. People on student visa and work visa are contributing to the tax payment and mostly have kids after significant years of toiling in USA. All the prominent persona today were granted birthright citizenship when there parents were on legal work visas… the least they can do is to read the executive order properly and address it saying it’s applicable to all the migrants wether legal or illegal.

Persons who are in the United States illegally, "asylum seekers", visa holders and other non-citizens who are in the United States are not "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" because they are citizens of foreign nations. The words "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" need to be interpreted on whether parents whose loyalty and citizenship are to another country can have a child become a citizen of the US. SCOTUS needs to decide if that amendment was only meant to give citizenship to the slaves or to non-citizens and people here illegally.

I must've missed your swearing in ceremony on the SCOTUS. Aint nobody care what you think it means. The only opinion that matters is that of the SCOTUS majority. There is no doubt in my mind they'll interpret it as it was meant, which is to say a temporary, necessary measure to ensure that freed slaves were given citizenship rights and not a means for the rich elites of the world to pop in and pop one out to get papers unconditionally.

If it's in The U.S. Constitution, The President can't abolish it through an Executive Order. Also, ending birthright citizenship applies to everyone born in The U.S. (not just the children of migrants).

You don’t know anything. States don’t have to print US citizen on the birth certificate. The states that goes against it will be rectified once the Supreme Court rules in favor of DT. Then there will be a law that it passed eventually.
