“Conjunctivitis” is any inflammatory condition of the membrane that lines eyelids and covers the sclera (white part of the eye). Most often this is caused by a bacterial or viral infection. The different types of pink eye include and are not limited to viral conjunctivitis, bacterial, allergic and chlamydial conjunctivitis. Although pink-eye is relatively common, it can also be a serious type of pink eye that can cause severe symptoms. Conjunctivitis is highly contagious; therefore importance of awareness is critical. This video will go on to explain the causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of pink-eye.
