Dude, 1996 - 2001 (and to an extent, perhaps even up to 2006) was the most magical time for the industry and the medium in general. It was crazy how quickly things kept advancing and how things kept coming along that just broke new ground like nothing and blew everybody’s minds. Rareware were tech wizards during the SNES and N64 days. Even developers of today are blown away by what they were able to achieve with such limitations and restraints. Particularly with Tooie and DK64. Regardless of what you think of their quality, both those games are so huge and full of content that they put even modern day AAA games to shame

It's backcompat on Series X and on there will run at 1986p with 16x Anistropic Filtering. So that image quality improvement is probably helping a lot to make it look better than it usually does.

Still I think I prefer the old Xbox over PS2. I used to have a "hacked" version with a list of over 50 games in one liste I could choose anytime I want. To return to that list while playing a game, I think had to press LT+RT+START+SELECT at the same time. Many years later, it got ruined by the red ring

Rare were on another level. The N64 version of this game had dynamic lighting and shadows, which was extremely rare on the N64, alongside decent texture quality and full voice acting with good music samples. The Xbox version genuinely looks like an Xbox 360 game. Again, punching way above the weight of the hardware it was running on.

The last time MS showed conker, they tried to make him look like the squirrel from ice age and push him into a hololens "game". The backlash was so great that they basically shelved it because they view the character and original bad fur day character "insensitive".

Honestly I think both look great in their own right. Both manage to hold up really well, especially in higher resolutions. If I had to pick a winner though, I'd think the N64 version has the slight edge over Xbox due to having more cartoony graphics. Regardless of what you think though, both of these games push their respective hardwares to their absolute limits. The Xbox version looks like it could be an early 360 title especially.

Una vez que terminas el reloaded tengo entendido que desbloqueas la versión sin censura del juego, no estoy seguro si era con un cheat que le dabas al diablito de la chimenea que sólo funciona una vez acabes el juego pero sí se podía quitar la censura

Los gráficos del remake están a otro nivel. Es impresionante lo que hizo Rare con el hardware de la Xbox original. Viéndolo en una Xbox actual con el parche 4K se ve mucho mejor que juegos de hoy día. Lo mismo puede decirse de Kameo o Banjo Nuts and Bolts, espectaculares.

To me it makes sense why each generation since has had smaller visual impacts. When your games are already pushing 1mil polys and you triple that to 3 mil the difference isn't going to be that big. Also another thing is that rasterization for lighting has also gotten incredibly good so yeah I'm not surprised the differences aren't that big

Bueno, tambien es verdad que Conker original salio muy tarde. La N64 ya estaba desfasada, con la sexta generacion recien entrando. Tanto la PS2 como la Xbox pueden renderizar como 100 a 200 veces mas poligonos que la N64 y PS1, a mayor framerate y eso sin contar las nuevas tecnologias graficas. Creo que jamas tendremos un salto tan grande en 3d.

@@copyer9088 Gameplay wise live and reloaded is better because of better controls but cutscenes and animations are better in original. If I want to replay the game I pick live and reloaded simply because it plays better but if I could experience one of the games for the first time again I would still pick the original. Because while you could argue gameplay is most important factor in a game but conker honestly doesnt have that great gameplay in either version anyway up until the shooting parts. Two thirds of the game are a simple platformer with some puzzle elements and 1 third of the game is third person shooter and the shooter part is the most fun part gameplay wise. But rest of the game is more about the humor,funny cutscenes and movie references which are better in original imo so for this reason for someone who never played either game I would still recommend the original even though the controls didnt age well. Basically play original first and then the remake.

I will always love the n64 version but I will admit the Xbox version of this game, the mechanics are so much better. The controls for the gameplay are a lot smoother and faster compared to the n64 when you try to play up to speed I noticed it lags a bit, similar to how Super Smash bros the mechanics were too old for a game that was meant for rapid game play and fast movements like running jumping fighting shooting racing etc

The original is better by a lot. Its sad how some gamers think graphics completely define a game. Sure some things looked better in the crappy xbox version, i really like the use of blur... a lot. But, the original game is the best version. Better gameplay, better art design, better multiplayer modes. Man, the art aesthetics of this game are special. The soundtrack has some AWESOME stuff too. I used to relax to some of this game music, smoke some bud, then get ready to choose a game. Would have just played this game again if i never lost my n64. Its got some gross stuff but, this art design, the sound tracks, and a lot of its aesthetics are super iconic. Its a must play n64 game, along with super Mario 64, Mario kart 64, ocarina of time, and banjo kazooies n64 games. A 1:1 remake that doesn't change anything but graphics with the addition of that distance blur would be super successful today. Add a few animated things and BOOM conkers back. First 4 figures has some phenomenal resin statues of the original conker, im not really a fan of the xbox remake. After a successful true remake of the n64 version ( not the heavily dissapointing xbox live and reloaded bs) id see this character being popular enough to be in Fortnite. Maybe even giving them inspiration to make a sequel. Maybe. I think its worth exploring. "Conkers bad fur day : Acorny Adventure" seems like the perfect title for a sequel. Since Microsoft owns rare, they could re use elements from the first two banjo kazooie games like the magic witch and toilet teleport thing. Could do some platforming in a giants house, explore the Giant Squirrel Tree featured in the original game, do another squirrel war against snakes or panthers based on Vietnam. Another mighty poo battle perhaps in the giants house. Could even do some kind of crossover with rick and morty!!! Just, wow. Its got potential. Could rip off all kinds of popular culture, while re using old characters too make new stories. Could rip off that movie Cars but have conker involved somehow.. doing something. Idk. So much potential. Could do something with gnomes being tree hippie drug users that forage mushrooms and weeds during the squirrel vietnam war. Could do stuff with a giant beanstalk n giants using their yard as a level maybe posing conker as a plumber fighting the mighty poo as a clogged toilet, something with animated living cars, a Weasle mafia hiest with rats in disguise, so much potential. Conker the king wanting to take a break and have all these adventures as jobs given to him by gregg the grim reaper as a deal to resurrect his dead girlfriend berry. Could use the bat's from the n64 game as boomerangs as a reference to batman. Could even give conker a "disguise" with some flying squirrel super hero persona or have gregg the grm reaper grant conker his bat form back for a few missions while hes at the squirrel tree city. Again, so much potential. The xbox remake did a few things right though, like the camera distance focus blur, the orange bat conker was a great improvement... id have to replay both games to really give a detailed overview of developer advice.

The Rare Replay version of the N64 Conkers Bad Fur Day is pretty much a remaster as it and a few other Rareware/Rare games got 4k patches. And on One X and Series X. Live and Reloaded runs at 1986p with 16x Anistropic Filtering.

Play the N64 first, then the Xbox one after. That’s my suggestion for anyone wondering which to play. For multiplayer, local is N64 and online is xbox.

N64: Best facial expressions, music, and multiplayer OG Xbox: Best graphics and controls The fact that both versions are available on to play on current Xbox consoles mean you get both worlds. Sadly, the original game won’t be on NSO in order to keep the T rating.

Este juego necesita una secuela bien hecha y con calidad, pero que no sea realizada por RARE, no quiero que arruinen otra franquicia como hicieron con Banjo-Kazooie

The Xbox version is insanely impressive from a technical perspective, it seriously looks way more like an Xbox 360 game than an original Xbox game. But with that said I still prefer how the N64 original looks. The mix of cartoony and realistic in the xbox version gives it this offputting uncanny valley effect at times. Meanwhile the original has a very consistent and charming cartoony style which is also incredibly impressive for the N64, especially since it didn't even use the expantion pak.

The N64 version is aesthetically more pleasing and has much more expressive faces. It really pushed what was possible at the time. However, the gameplay in the 2nd half is absolutely horrible, since they were still figuring out shooter controls in a 3D environment. I always quit when I reach the It's War chapter. The Xbox version feels much more natural to play and it ironed out some annoying segments to be less frustrating and repetitive. It made the shooter levels fun. In my honest opinion, and I will die on that hill, this is not a game you play for the gameplay anyway, but to see what crazy scenario happens next. And you want to pick the more pleasant feeling version to play. Again, my personal opinion.

I think that live and reload has a lot of censored in the text and other things, which is nonsense. On the other hand, to put on one side the bubbles in English (Original) and in Spanish (remake) it is useless to see the censorship that there is

Are the camera controls fixed in this version? On the Rare Replay version the the X camera axis is completely backwards from how we use it today. Makes it hard to play. Thanks!

En el remaster se enfocaron más en los gráficos realistas mas que en mantener la esencia original, si bien los escenarios se ven super bien logrados, lo que tiene muy flojo fueron los modelos de los personajes, en general el Live and Reloaded no es malo pero siento que pudo haber sido mucho mejor

A common popular opinion is that the older version looks better because of the Simpler cartoony look, But I think that the remake looks leagues better. It's like saying new super mario bros looks better than mario galaxy.

That example doesn't make sense, it would be a better example to compare (New Super Mario with Luigi's Mansion, which are very different graphically, but because they are different genres) But here we are talking about THE SAME GAME.

Graphically remake looks better of course but most people prefer the arstyle of the original due to more cartooy look. Good comparison would be lion king movie(original) vs lion king remake. The remake has more realistic cgi visuals but people still prefer the cartoony original. Also the characters were more expressive in the original (that goes both for lion king and conker)
