Europe and then America in last several centuries have colonised the world by their physical and virtual control. It's about time that Asia and Africa should rise by breaking the European and American shackles. The model of rise of Germany, Japan, South Korea, China and other far eastern countries must be followed by India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and central Asian states by showing flexibility towards each other. We need more and more knowledgeable and progressive thinking people like Shashi Tharoor in Indian politics so that the entire demography of politics change and we should rather change the way elections are being held and even choosing a government or parliament, because as rightly pointed out by Tharoor, if we want Modi or any other candidate for the PM post, we will have to choose their own party or vote for a candidate who belongs to that party whether we like the party or the candidate or not. Tharoor is still optimistic and hopes that things will change in politics and new generation comes in and more people are educated, but frankly if Indians do not come out of the mental slavery mode that of idol worship, be it God or be it certain individual, things will never change for better in India atleast as far as politics is concerned.

In reply I would argue that even English wanted to live comfortably in a vast land they called India. They taught Indians to think for themselves rather than a Raja or Maharajah do that . In other words the seeds of parliamentary democracy were sown for the first time in Indian history only under a white man . Gandhi and Nehru and Ambedkar went to universities in England and America to digest the concept of democracy and let the Indians to learn and govern themselves with a Constitution. Last but not least, cricket , railways and banking system etc would never have happened but for this important epoch in Indian history, namely, the 200 rule under England. Let's than God it wasn't Spain or Portugal who colonized India and destroyed every thing toto.

Dear lord ! With all due respect for both these elite, literate, worthy revering, gentlemen and esp Hon. Shashi Tharoor; I didn't know that I lived in a different India than you discuss here. Dear ones, come down your ivory tower, dismount your political horse and palm. Inorder to take one good class in grammar and engineering, I had to wait on a sweltering platform of a stinky railway station for 4 hours at a stretch. I rubbed my heels in my suburb called Boisar, to find one library, with one book that wouldn't be more than 5 decades old and so in a condition to be read. No wonder how hard do we swallow, it is so hard and heart wrenching to make peace with the fact that Nehru and his socialistic cronies wrecked my parents' and consequentially my childhood, making those childhoods writhe in poverty. Name one party that has even remotely tried purging out superstition, emancipating women, making stricter laws against paedophilia and child abuse! Name one party that did not eat away the governement coffers, that did not swindle all the antiques, that did not give tickets to goons, that did anything to quell the aggrieved heart ???????? Please discern and understand the true Indian's true condition.... FISHING IN TROUBLED WATERS DOESNOT COUNT AS GOOD ADMINISTRATION! AND REMEMBER KARMA FOLLOWS!
