I live in Newtown, we take our dog to Fairfield Hills a few times a week for walks. It’s crazy seeing so many people walking the paved paths around these creepy buildings. I never thought inside was in that good of shape, when you look through the windows everything looks completely vandalized.

We use to have to jog around the entire compound. Twice. It sucked besides the creepy staff and bad food a lot other weird stuff but never a ghost

Interesting place. I think labotomies were stopped around the 70]'s. That hot pink paint would make me go insane. The Rune symbols were neat. That tub was a very old style but neat to see what was once. Looks like a lot of stuff was removed like in the kitchen...Again a neat place.

Born and raised in Connecticut near the area. The hospital is before my time but an otherwise healthy relative of mine got sent here because of learning disabilities and very mild autism. Like you probably wouldn't even have noticed he had autism unless he told you. He died there about 2-3 years laters and the whole thing was covered up. From what I gathered, as time went on, he got more and more out of touch with reality. His one best friend, Mike, would try and visit him often and tried getting the attention of his family to say he is not doing good and he's getting worse, no one listened. His family are the ones who sent him there, I'm not sure why exactly, if only for mild autism and learning disabilities, but I do know they had a terrible relationship, they were abusive and manipulative. Hospital said his death was suicide but his friend and my family think different. Mike visited him a few times a month and even as time went on and he got worse, Mike would still visit and they would always enjoy each others company. About 2 months prior to his death being announced, Mike tried to visit one day and the hospital told him his friend didn't want to see him, and every time after that he got told the same thing. He immediately knew something was wrong but no one would listen to him. And whats fucking crazy is they never let anyone see the body. I live in another state now but Mike refuses to move out of the area. He's about 84 now and still visits his friend every so often. It was actually very common to chuck anyone with any sort of disability in here, and treat them as if they were sent from demons. Im sure towards the hospitals later days they were not that sinister performing lobotomies and shit, but its crazy to think a place with history like this only got shut down not even 30 years ago.

This is a creepy building. Kinda reminds me of a school with the auditorium and gymnasium. Do all psychiatric hospitals have that? The bowling alley was cool. You definitely should go back with some kind of raft and explore that part of the building. Keep the great videos coming!

I think you can get waders that you can go in waist high or the tall water boots. But if you're worried, you'll look weird, then get a blow-up raft. Either way you gotta get down there at the end of the tunnel. Plus you can keep the waders in the car just in case you come across another flooding condition

Great video! I want to say tho to you and most people in the comments, using a raft to continue down the flooded tunnel would not work. Heres why, around 2008, when the town of Newtown was moving above head power lines to underground, they came in contact with many of the tunnels. Because of this, they had to cut the tunnels in half to run electrical lines. That tunnel would have continued to Shelton house but because of the collapes it ends in brick wall the town put up. Due to this brick wall, the tunnel fills up with water, eventually leading into the Plymouth hall basement where the bowling alley is. Although, every once and awhile, the town pumps out the Plymouth Hall basement and tunnel. If you get lucky enough to go right after they drain it out, you can walk to the collapes tunnel wall. No matter what, it will still lead to nowhere. If you have any other question feel free to ask.

The writing on the floor in the theater aroknd the pentagram are runes.... symbols in witchcraft also theres 2 different kinds of runes the Norse (Vikings) used. But they could be sigils tok ut depends what exactly was done. I gavent studied runes yet so unfortunately ifk whag theh say or if tgeyre even runes or if theyre sigils. Sorry couldnt be much help. Not so fun fact. My great grandmother and great uncle were in there. My grandpa would bring my mom and aunts and walk around the place. Great grandma died in there I think naturally. My great uncle was released after it clossed down he was on the streets and would go back there with another guy to live. Two ex guards caught them sleeping in the basement and killed them both. My cousin was sentenced there when they reopened a part for criminally insane. So my funny would go up there. And it was hard. Like going to a place your grandmother died at, your uncle was murdered, and your son will probably die or r get murdered at. He didn't he got it but died later. They had bipolar schizophrenia
