THank you for this video. It helped me connect an old vcr/dvd combo ( the vcr side doesn't work anyway) to a new Philips 1080p smart tv. I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to figure out why I wasn't getting any signal and no audio later. Thank you very much. This should be tagged as a help video.

Had to use the Audio input to get the video and cd to show up on the TV. HDMI 1 is used by DirecTV, leaving HDMI2 open. Using only the component cable with RCA composite to my TV. Have not tried to burn a cd from a recorded DirecTV program stored on the receiver. Fingers crossed.

Use your VHS vcr videorecorder and blank VHS tapes to get even with the news media and tell your friends to just use their vcr videorecorders

I have Philips vcr/dvd combo hooked up to Vizio hd tv. In order to get the set up screen, I have to change from HDMI to AV, but that screen has no picture. So basically I am asking the vcr to tape a blank screen. If I use the tv remote and put it on tv, I get a picture, bur the setup screen from the dvd remote doesn't show up

I have just brought a dvd vhs combo and hve set it up. please help. Whenever i switch on my satelite reciever and switches it to AV2 te pictures all wavey. but when i switch sky off the pogram i have recorded comes out fine. is there a way to fix it so the pictures ok on both ends. my second problem is that if i record a program that s on late at night and switches my tv off it just records a blank screen even if i have left the reciever on.

This is the composite connection which is less quality than component (red green blue). You need to plug the 3 RCA cable into the “out” or “DVD/VHS common out” on the VCR and into the “in” on the TV.

I'm having problems reconnecting my Zenith DVD/VCR Combo to a diferent TV. I'm connecting it to a ProX MS-26. When Connecting thru the DVD/VCR inputs, I'm getting a B&W pic, which is not clear, and w/o sound. I'm using the add'l A/V Cables, as well. When just connecting thru the DVD connecting inputs, I'm getting a Purple display, and still no sound.

+Tyla Vidal I had this problem. Look under or on the side of the input area, there should be writing take note of what is written there and label your cords accordingly.

Unfortunately you cannot record VCR in a modern TV. You're gonna have to plug it to an old TV.

this is good if your TV is about 20 years old or so and it doesn't have the updated new TV signals where you to have a ( box )to pick up the new tv stations (signals) "TODAY" I need the info on how to hook this .A New "TODAYS" 2016 Smart TV not an 30 old TV info as they are doing it here .the TV I have is a Smart TV "OR NEW" and the DVD Recorder is also a (NEW )or made for (Today) 2016 Model also it is a Sanyo DVD VHS Recorder the TV IS A 2016 SMART TV THe directions are way to overly confusing they over kill it with geek tech tems only that they alone know what the terms mean so if anyone knows how to hook this id appreciate any help i get i can make it play the dvd but hooking it up to record from a TV is antenna has evaded me greatly. I called Sanyo for tech help and all they gave me was making it even more more confusing forme so i gave up and its set here now for months but i can play dvd on it .
