Connector Revenge - Humvee Redux - We don't need no stinkin chopper

Got a re-run at the Connector Trail and Moose Meadow - amazing what a few weeks of sub freezing weather can do to a trail....good and bad. Come along and enjoy the ride. Too bad the camera takes the elevation out - but it is an AMAZING way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

I’m glad you enjoy the videos. We are planning on going to the Knik glacier tomorrow. Hopefully we can get some good video. We had 42” of snow recently and I’ve heard the trail is tricky. We will see.

As far as maintaining your awesome humvee , is it really expensive to own ?

Great question. It all depends on the condition of your truck when you buy it. Engine and trans are basic. GM Detroit diesel and either a turbo 400 or 4L80E. Parts are available through places like Mac Motors and even AM General is now selling parts directly to the public. Used parts are out there. Midwest military equipment and many more sell virtually every part. Prices can be higher for some specific military parts. But basic maintenance isn’t terrible. Fluids filters etc. oh, and some parts that fit a civilian Hummer H1 can be bought like tue CV axles right at Autozone.

I do. But if we did and overnight I’d stop at the swing and go back from that point. Not moose meadow.

What’s the radio you are running?

I installed a Bluetooth speaker/amp that I just run off my phone. It was all in a tube (8” speakers) but was taking up too much space. I built the box on the ceiling and installed the speaker, amp, and Bluetooth guts out of the speaker tube in it. It works amazing and is simple. The phone is on a magnet mount so it is easy to reach.

I started with something like this with the 8”. BOSS Audio Systems ATV65BRGB ATV UTV Weatherproof Sound System - 6.5 Inch Speakers, 1 Inch Tweeters, Full Range Audio, Built-in Amplifier, Bluetooth, Multi-Color Illumination, Hook Up To Stereo a.co/d/7OUzsFZ It was mounted on tue floor and got in the way. I installed a piece of plywood in the roof that both made it flat and stop collecting water and give me a place to put the speakers.
