NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Warner Bros. 5872) Out of Los Angeles, this 1966 release is the last of 16 singles issued by Connie Stevens on the Warner Bros label since her signing with the company in 1959. Produced by Charles Koppelman and Don Rubin, 'It'll Never Happen Again' has Miss Stevens delivering a smooth and sultry vocal performance not usually associated with her style. Although only a little over two minutes in length, it's one of her best recordings.

Connie Stevens could really sing. The voice was sweet and full of a yearning quality that could break your heart. She was amazingly versatile and truly a Singer/Actress in every sense .

I liked this immensely. This was her last single at WB. Her previous single "Most Of All" (WB5834) met the same fate (went nowhere). I loved them both. In fact, her last 2 singles on the label were my favorites by her. I blame radio stations. Program Directors get these in and look at them and think "Oh..another Connie Stevens flop, or "it dosen't fit with what we're playing". (Back then when music was changing too rapidly, this didn't stand a chance). But again, this was an excellent record. At least it should have pulled some numbers on the "AC" charts (esp with Koppelman & Rubin producing). Sadly, many ppl don't even know these songs exist. Love this post!!

What gets me in a twist is the fact that though she made some of the most brilliant pop singles ever, she's more remembered for being a gossip column favorite in the 60's movie magazines. Injustice!

Connie Stevens had such a voice but is more remembered as a actress on Hawaiian Eye among others but a great talented singer that came at the right place right time. Nice job on the Tim Hardin Song.

There is a cruel irony in that she recorded this song as her marriage to James Stacy was falling apart, so you know that the sadness Connie conveys is real.

This was one of her last singles for the WB label in 1966. She did not returned until 1970 where she released "Keep Growing Strong", the original version of what would later become as "Betcha By Golly Wow" on the Bell label. Unfortunately, the original version never charted until two years later when the Stylistics did their version and it became a million seller, and the group's signature song.

Psychic to the Stars John Cohan an "Authority" on Connie Stevens, says she did this somewhat sad song because that's was the year 1966 she divorced husband Jim Stacy. She had reason to shed tears, he had cut off her trademark ponytail at poolside and made her get a nose job when they first married in 1963 and it was a horror until the divorce.Years later in 1995 Jim Stacy was arrested for child molestation of an 11 year old girl, he was sent to prison with a sentence of 6 years. His second ex wife Kim Darby said he was poison to her, she wouldn't go near him for love or money.Stacy said until his dying days Connie always kept in touch....yikes ! Connie knew how to pick them, now didn't she......
