If you do a quick Wikipedia search, you can see that this “Christian” woman he married, his second wife, who he speaks of as such an outsider because she’s a “non-jew”, was actually his cousin. He will either dismiss anything that threatens his perceptions by providing himself with an explanation that protects his pre established perceptions and beliefs. He will also let anyone or anything that validates this narrative help preserving his understanting. Or, and that usually happens when the shock factor is more profound, he will actually realize he is lacking knowledge on the matter and dilligently seek that information until he finds the truth. I can only encourage people to go for that path. Fortunately, I know many people are doing it right now.
