I think the key with minimalism is embracing what were often coined ‘undesirable’ elements like simplicity and satisfaction. To be simple or satisfied is no longer deemed boring but immensely pleasurable and peaceful. Minimalism is about recognising this and utilising what we do have to unlock an eternal sense of happiness. Thank you again for such an insightful video!😊

I wouldn't call myself a minimalist, but compared to most people I know I would appear to be. I love watching your videos for inspiration to go even further with my paring down. Your voice is so lovely and calming. Thank you for such inspiring content.

Hi Connie was wondering how often do you move ?while you talk areas in the backgrounds in the homes that you stay at or rooms that you stay at are so nice!

I just found your channel a few days ago and I’ve been loving your content. Thanks so much for taking the time to create such beautiful and useful videos. After traveling with 2 suitcases as a family of 5 for the past 8 months we’ve realized how little we can actually live with. We are looking at settling down for a bit here in Portugal and we’re definitely going to stay minimal :)

this is great and I love your videos, however, the only thing I wrestle with is letting go of sentimental items - like kids artwork, christmas ornaments, decorations that have a memory from when the kids were little, etc. that is my issue that I need advice on - thank you
@ConnieRiet
@ConnieRiet Жыл бұрын
Good point! Sentimental items hold not only memories but a piece of our hearts. As you go through the items maybe some things you can let go, others you can take pictures of them to remember. Honor where you are at today. If you can't part with your children's keepsakes... then don't. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to live minimally. The only way is that works for you is your way.

I appreciate your suggestions for simplifying even when you are "on the move". We have been living in a temporary apartment for a year and a half now, most of the items here do not belong to us but still, there are little things that add up and that can be dealt with to make our lives more efficient and simple.

I’m working towards a capsule wardrobe that suits my current lifestyle. I’ve never had a lot of clothes anyway but I still had things in my wardrobe that didn’t suit my life so now they’re gone (sold some on eBay and donated some) I’m replacing them now with pieces I need rather than want. Watching your clips help me prioritise my belongings. I’m not a minimalist in regards to decor yet but I have cleared away a lot recently that no longer serve me. Thanks 🙏for the calm way you put things into perspective Connie ❤️

Simplifying in a normal society would be living in extended family systems, sharing and handing down things to ones children, grandchildren. The consumer society in which we live created the need for "minimalism". People with grown children, grandchildren would automatically "minimalize". Even up to the family home. This still young woman should be raising her grandchildren, cooking with and for others, in addition to realizing her own personal goals.

Dear Connie, I immensely enjoy your videos. We could be twins for your videos reflect my thoughts and lifestyle. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. One suggestion I have is, please bring more variety in the videos. I feel you are repeating the same topics directly or indirectly in many videos. Topics such as simple gardening, prudent use of natural resources or how to journal, etc. will be beneficial to many. Lot of love and best wishes!

Connie, while I don't necessarily want to be a "minimalist", I AM decluttering and simplifying my home. I have a question for you (or any of your subscribers) - How did you deal with throwing away family photos? I was doing quite well until I got to pictures of my son when he was little. He's an only child and played every sport, was in numerous plays, and traveled the world with us. I just couldn't throw all these precious memories away so I had to stop the process. It saddened me so much I haven't been able to get motivated again. TIA

i personally created digital versions of the photos, and then burned them to disc. I think its a great way of preserving space since photos can take up a lot of space. Dont use USBs, or hard drives, because they are not meant for long-term storage. Also have multiple copies on other places just in case. Good luck !

also there are these so called M-Discs, meant for archiving for over 1000 years, resistant to weather etc. planning on investing in these as well. for now im using the normal dvds.
