How wonderful that you are following your heart. I have also found that traveling has been the most exciting part of my life, and have transmitted that to my children. Recently, at age 83 and single, I became depressed thinking that my traveling was over, until I did some soul searching, and spoke to my daughter who encouraged me to try other options like using a wheelchair at the airport, which I now do and am thrilled to say that it works! Train travel has also become a great travel choice sometimes, so I now try to think outside the box and be creative about my next adventure which may be a train trip across Canada ( I've already done that across the US). I have physical challenges, but I won't let them stop me from the joyful exleriennces of traveling. Thank you for sharing your life with us, and Happy Trails!

@Susan-nm3sx So many of us are starting over, and although it can be intimidating, the gift of single life can be a blessing. There are many ways to find like minded people in the same situation. Be gentle with yourself, and start small. I found that dining alone was a good place to start. It opens up a whole new way of seeing the world around you, and you'll see many of us out there also. Be brave and creative! Blessings 🙏

@@Susan-nm3sxI too found myself separated after 36 years, having planned to “grow old together”. Life throws us curve balls. You can do this, one day at a time. As you work through the grieving, you have the opportunity to re-invent your life. Might not be what you once planned, but it can become a beautiful thing!

I’m 85 and last year I started using a wheelchair at airports and if I’m with family who want to walk all over the city of Boston (as we did) my daughter rented a wheelchair for me, knowing I would opt out of trying to keep up and not go…it worked, everyone took turns pushing me and once i let go of my pride, it was most enjoyable!

I heard someone say recently that rather than "reinvent yourself", it is better to "realign youself". Maybe this is you, too. All the best for new adventures in Spain!
@lowell6216 сағат бұрын
I think a bit of both is fine. I get what you are saying (I think) though...wherever you go, there you are. So "reinventing" is perhaps not as realistic a concept as realigning.

Hi Connie from Florida. I too suffered a severe rear end collision at age 57.5 years ago. Went thru many years of recovery. My life went from 180 to 0 in 10 seconds. Had to do a major life reset. I now garden, do lots of yoga, bake etc. We bought an rv and travel in the summer months. After about 3 months, I get traveller's fatigue and we head home.. We also do shorter trips throughout the year. Congrats on your new place. I've been a follower for many years and appreciate your inspirational content.

Really enjoyed your video. You're quite right, it's never too late to strike out in a new direction even if it scares you at first. I met a wonderful man when I was 68 (I'm now 70). I thought I was too old, too emotionally burnt out, too untrusting, afraid of opening my heart again. I almost walked away (it was complicated as things often are). I'd come out of a challenging life partnership 15 years prior and vowed I'd never do it again. He was at the tail end of a failing marriage. However, I took a risk, as did he, and it completely transformed my life. It's had its difficulties but overall so glad I did.

I adore Spain! I purposely travelled while I was younger and had the time, energy, income and good health to enjoy it. I now have a more settled life in retirement and enjoy shorter adventures, primarily closer to home. Some people put off travel until their golden years only to be faced with a variety of issues that make it difficult or even impossible. I have great memories and experiences to keep and share as I age. Best wishes for a happy life. :)

Agreed. I have had long travel adventures that included a lot of moving around - staying in different hotels or airbnbs every three or so days for weeks or months at a time to cover a lot of ground. Countries like India, where it takes an entire day and night of bus travel etc. to get from point A to point B, always packing and unpacking, living out of a 40L backpack. It is an art for sure and it was great fun, some of my most extreme adventures. Now I have a home base in Mexico and it is the best of both worlds.
