How wonderful that you are following your heart. I have also found that traveling has been the most exciting part of my life, and have transmitted that to my children. Recently, at age 83 and single, I became depressed thinking that my traveling was over, until I did some soul searching, and spoke to my daughter who encouraged me to try other options like using a wheelchair at the airport, which I now do and am thrilled to say that it works! Train travel has also become a great travel choice sometimes, so I now try to think outside the box and be creative about my next adventure which may be a train trip across Canada ( I've already done that across the US). I have physical challenges, but I won't let them stop me from the joyful exleriennces of traveling. Thank you for sharing your life with us, and Happy Trails!

I love your comment, I’m currently separated at 62, and honestly, never thought I’d be in this boat! I’m pretty much having to try and start again, and it’s freaking me out! 😂 I hope you continue to travel, you’re a true inspiration. Best wishes. 🖐🏻🇬🇧✨

@Susan-nm3sx So many of us are starting over, and although it can be intimidating, the gift of single life can be a blessing. There are many ways to find like minded people in the same situation. Be gentle with yourself, and start small. I found that dining alone was a good place to start. It opens up a whole new way of seeing the world around you, and you'll see many of us out there also. Be brave and creative! Blessings 🙏

@@Susan-nm3sxI too found myself separated after 36 years, having planned to “grow old together”. Life throws us curve balls. You can do this, one day at a time. As you work through the grieving, you have the opportunity to re-invent your life. Might not be what you once planned, but it can become a beautiful thing!

I’m 85 and last year I started using a wheelchair at airports and if I’m with family who want to walk all over the city of Boston (as we did) my daughter rented a wheelchair for me, knowing I would opt out of trying to keep up and not go…it worked, everyone took turns pushing me and once i let go of my pride, it was most enjoyable!

I heard someone say recently that rather than "reinvent yourself", it is better to "realign youself". Maybe this is you, too. All the best for new adventures in Spain!
@lowell62
@lowell62 16 сағат бұрын
I think a bit of both is fine. I get what you are saying (I think) though...wherever you go, there you are. So "reinventing" is perhaps not as realistic a concept as realigning.

Thank you for stating the truth that we can start over at any point in life, regardless of our age. I believe this, but somehow when I heard you say it, it connected in my mind deeper than ever before at just how true that is. I'm preparing to declutter and downsize all my accumulated belongings. It's been something that I've been wanting to do for at least the last 2-3 years. This will be my goal to complete in 2025. I believe I need to be ready for whatever new changes my life journey will take. ❤️❤️ Thank you. First time watching and I'm a new subscriber. Tracey from San Diego, California

Hi Connie from Florida. I too suffered a severe rear end collision at age 57.5 years ago. Went thru many years of recovery. My life went from 180 to 0 in 10 seconds. Had to do a major life reset. I now garden, do lots of yoga, bake etc. We bought an rv and travel in the summer months. After about 3 months, I get traveller's fatigue and we head home.. We also do shorter trips throughout the year. Congrats on your new place. I've been a follower for many years and appreciate your inspirational content.

Really enjoyed your video. You're quite right, it's never too late to strike out in a new direction even if it scares you at first. I met a wonderful man when I was 68 (I'm now 70). I thought I was too old, too emotionally burnt out, too untrusting, afraid of opening my heart again. I almost walked away (it was complicated as things often are). I'd come out of a challenging life partnership 15 years prior and vowed I'd never do it again. He was at the tail end of a failing marriage. However, I took a risk, as did he, and it completely transformed my life. It's had its difficulties but overall so glad I did.

I adore Spain! I purposely travelled while I was younger and had the time, energy, income and good health to enjoy it. I now have a more settled life in retirement and enjoy shorter adventures, primarily closer to home. Some people put off travel until their golden years only to be faced with a variety of issues that make it difficult or even impossible. I have great memories and experiences to keep and share as I age. Best wishes for a happy life. :)

Fellow car accident brain injury survivor here. It does indeed take a toll. People around you dont recognize it because "you look fine", because the injury is internal. I have come to accept (21 years now) my injury and I've had to consistently readjust and re-evaluate everything every day. My husband and I are now 3 years into our travels. We have an airstream and have gone cross country 3 times now. We will be moving to Seattle to...settle down...a bit now. I don't think we'll completely stop just yet as there's still more to see. But it is shifting.❤

You look 30 and gorgeous! So happy you found a place you love and can rest up when you need! Sorry you ended up in the hospital. I am 65 but lived overseas for 10 years when my children were young. I was in my mid 30’s to mid 40’s. It was in East Europe and Southeast Asia. An amazing experience. However traveling a lot to other countries and back to the US always left me completely exhausted! It would take a good week or two to readjust. It was much better for me to live in one place and create a life for the children and make friends and travel about from time to time. My husband and I are the same. We travel multiple times a year with our children. But after a week or so, we miss home. But we love weekend getaways and vacations but prefer to have a permanent home.

you are a gem and a blessing and such an inspiration. thank you for sharing your struggles too, it sounds hard, but you are very positive and hopeful, and you are blessed to have a partner to go through it all with you. I can't imagine how hard it must be to live with the aftermath of a brain injury. I have very very mild covid damage and it's been just enough to be annoying and frustrating, but you are a testament to human resilience and strength and also vulnerability. and you also remind us that we can change how we do things and even slow down a little bit in order to process this sometimes chaotic life. thank you Connie!

I so love this for you!! ❤ We visit Spain/Canary Islands once a year to walk the Camino de Santiago, and to visit family. I’ll be looking forward to your upcoming episodes, so I can “visit” Spain more often through your channel! You’re truly an inspiration, Connie. Thank you ❤

I’m very happy you like my country. It’s ironic to think I’ve living away for nearly 30 years now, while all this time dying to return. I hope I have the courage to do it one day

Sorry to hear about your health struggles…..happy you have a home base. Traveling is wonderful, but I do think it is hard not to have a base, someplace familiar…your own bed. It can be both fun and exhausting going from place to place….having a beautiful home and ability to travel is a win win.

Agreed. I have had long travel adventures that included a lot of moving around - staying in different hotels or airbnbs every three or so days for weeks or months at a time to cover a lot of ground. Countries like India, where it takes an entire day and night of bus travel etc. to get from point A to point B, always packing and unpacking, living out of a 40L backpack. It is an art for sure and it was great fun, some of my most extreme adventures. Now I have a home base in Mexico and it is the best of both worlds.

As someone who suffered a TBI 50 years ago I see your struggle. What works best for me (everyone is different) I need long periods of absolute quiet and darknesss to rest my brain. I love to travel but need to do it in spurts. I hope you find a happy rhythm ❤
