looking at him shift by shift, when he doesnt have the puck on his stick, hes completely ineffective. actually suprised tbh

His stats speak for themselves. Honestly i would say mcdavid even today is completely ineffective without the puck on his stick as well. I would argue that you just don’t understand positioning. I think many smaller forwards like mcdavid, gaurdeau, hughes, etc. position themselves where the puck is going to be, not where it is currently. None of these players are even remotely good on defense, but are able to produce offensively at will. You’re judging bedard on an absolutely useless skill, for a forward. Mcdavid is probably one of the worst defensive players in the league because he knows his role is to make plays, and so he adjusts his positioning accordingly. I don’t understand how you see this game where he scored two goals, and nitpick about how he was unimpressive due to a skill that you vastly overvalue. These highlights looks similar to a mcdavid, mackinnon, or matthews highlights from when they where 15, imo. I was nothing but impressed. Go look at other nhl players highlights at 15, and see how they compare
