I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I was worried my editing was too fast this time around so that's nice to hear. I love both DD1 and 2 in very different ways. It's really weird that DD2 is way less grindy than DD1 but also way more grindy in other ways. If you like games like this I'd suggest checking out Irratus: Lord of the Dead. It strikes a great balance between these 2 games and has a ton of charm.

great video, really fun to watch and I'm glad you're sticking with this format :3 2 things though. The intro was maybe a little on the long side, but it was still funny so that's not too important. I would have liked if you spent a bit more time on different mechanics and just talked about them a bit more, almost felt like stuff like tokens were kind of glossed over and not talked about as much they could have been. The part where you summarised the characters was great though, really enjoyed that. A few more visual edits (like in the oxygen not included video with for example, the parrot going "hat" as you mention hats for your duplicates) is something I missed a bit, but that could also just be me and what I enjoy.

I had the same feeling about the intro. Probably could have cut a line without losing impact. While editing I realized how lucky I was to have the shorts to use for gags. I wanted to put not of the little memes in but I was really trying to get this done within a deadline. The editing felt a lot faster this time too and I didn't leave as many spaces for those little jokes. It's something I'm keeping in mind for the next one. Thanks so much for the feedback!!!

As someone in the rare camp of preferring the second game to the first (passive dodge is one of my least favorite things ever and the token system is real neat) it's cool to see someone who can talk about the cool things of this game even while enjoying the first one more. also the joke at 1:11 is phenomenal

Yea, I wish I liked the game more. But I'm not very good at it at all, and after many many failed runs, failing again and again. It's really hard to pick the game up again. I love the combat, sometimes... and the game looks and sounds great. But when I lose a guy on the final part before the boss after like, 3 hours.... yea, I can't go on with some random character that doesn't fit in my party. It makes me sad, because I loved DD1.

When I would play DD1 and get a mental break from a party member, it felt like everybody in the party internally thought "fuck this guy", glad to know the madmen at Red Hook decided to make that a feature with the relationship system. Also I'm so glad they didn't bring Antiquarian (or however her class is spelled) back, literally what purpose did she serve in the original? Rest in piss.

There's a lot of great ideas that just don't come together in DD2s format. Also the Antiquarian allowed items to stack higher in DD1. High risk, high reward. They were great but very very circumstantial.

Antiquarian gives + dodge to everyone and can use her attack to hit most enemies from most positions in your squad. In the first game buffs stack so just keep using this and keep increasing your party's dodge. Plus she can reduce the accuracy and dodge of enemies. She's honestly not bad at all. I've heard she can also get you extra gold too? Yeah you get more rewards from combat encounters, increased rewards from various things including a chance at gold and trinkets from the unburned torches you can find. If you loot everything you get bonuses to loot and gold. She increases the maximum gold you can hold in a stack to 2,000. There's a lot she can do that makes her surprisingly useful and good especially for early game

i fully believe dd2 is a prequel to dd1, it just feels thematically correct to have it be that heroes who solved a regional threat are just one of hundreds who arrive at the hamlet to solve an outright world ending threat that was hidden beneath the earth. (although, dd2's would've become a world ending threat if left to fester for much longer) it also follows a Lovecraftian style perfectly, the horror of dd2 being solved and the respite it provides being so completely paled by the hell ahead makes me want to kiss the air in awe of how well its executed
