I'm amazed how idiomatic this sounds played as metal. If I wasn't already familiar with the piece, and if Shosty hadn't so thoroughly stamped it as his own with the unrelenting DSCH motif, and with all his other self-quotations, I would totally believe it was written as metal to begin with.

As a student of classical music and at the same time fan of rock, I would like to thank you for doing these arrangements!!! They're very well done, and Shostakovich did predict heavy metal... Hopefully I can see in the future some setlist with this Allegro in it :) Btw, I know other work that suits well in this heavy metal transcriptions: Gyorgy Ligeti's first String Quartet! Maybe you can do some arrangement of it..?

I adore Shostakovich, love metal, play both guitar and cello and have always wondered what this would sound like on guitar. The original is such a driving metalesque piece, many quartets headbang a lot when playing it. Sadly I’m not good enough at the guitar (or video editing) to try, so thank you! Loved it. 🤘🏻
