Poa Trivialis likes full renovations... the seeds stay underground and the pop out after the renovations... perhaps a spot treatment "kill them all" in the places where there is Poa. And the pre emergent two times a year for the next 2 or 3 years...

such a hard decision. Problem is the poa is way bigger than the spot looks.

@@lawnrebel It seems logical to dig those areas out but I guess you're right that it could be bigger than it looks. It still seems easier than smoking the whole thing which didn't even work last time since you have to do the dead areas anyway? @@211212112 for sure,in my 30 years of golf course maintenance, in some scenarios it's actually desirable, on lower maint budgets, bot so in others , the worst case I encountered the "annual blugrass" was over 90% of the putting green surface, it took 4 years of cultural, mechanical, and chemical methods to get the creeping bentgrass established, still had about 10 % of the poa annua , the only place we ever worried about it was on the putting surfaces, mid Atlantic region, transition zone
@2112121122 жыл бұрын
@@garyboardwine3349 yeah I figured the spots to really tend and cultivate would be the bentgrass putting greens. That grass is pretty unique and does not seem extremely hardy. I’d like to see it in its native areas where large swaths of it grows naturally if that exists. As far as the fairways and such it would seem ideal to use whatever grass that grows well in that area. I’ve seen nice lawns of many types of grass except crab grass.

@ssmvp113 жыл бұрын
One thing to keep in mind regarding your Poa Triv/Annua issue is the seed bank in the soil. Spraying it out and reseeding with KBG or PRG will not solve the issue. I’ve had success removing Poa at large scales via fraise mowing or in small cases plain old sod cutting it out 1-2 inches down to remove the existing seed bank. You will still need to have a solid pre emergent program once the new lawn is in as well if you want it to keep it out.

Watching all the vids - most likely POA TRIVIVIALIS - in this vid he does say “POA Triv all over the place”. If Annual POA he would have beat it for sure. POA Triv is a real pisser - kind of like KBG but ugly. If watch other vids the lengths CE has gone to try and deal with it are extreme.

Since PRG is so easy to germinate, just spot spray with round up all those poa triv circles and marker dye so you don’t miss any spots then overseed and hit those spots a little heavier. Easy. Also, avoid core aeration as it can bring up dormant poa seeds.
