Brothers we have to be honest, this music will never have the recognation that we want it to have, but as long as we are true to ourselves and keep listening to this, it doesnt matter, it has a meaning for us and thats all that matters, at least for me.

Conor i'm about to buy your last two solo albums.. I love you, dude. I feel like I have such a deep connection to almost every song you put out. I've loved you for years and in my eyes you're one of the most beautiful people on this lonely planet. I really do appreciate every little word you write man. You have music to fit any mood and yet somehow the songs always seem to line up with the way I'm feeling. Please, never stop doing what you're doing. Sing the songs in your heart because they help save people like me. Here's a little example. I went to prison for heroin possession. I met a man named Keith while there. He has since become a good friend. Keith was the first person I ever met who loved Bright Eyes/Conor O. the way I do. We sat in our cell and sang Lua and Poison Oak, and even eventually worked our way back to A Perfect Sonnet all just by memory. We had no instruments or radio, so we would bang on whatever, food trays and the like, and try to keep rhythm to our half improvised vocal renditions of your music. And man, when we were singing, I swear I was free. You gave me that Conor. I'm relatively clean now, I smoke and occasionally drink. And life is a whole lot better. But years ago in that cell are somehow moments I will never forget and would never want to, despite the fact that imprisonment is something you'd want to forget. I've only had one chance to see you at a show in Nashville, TN. Unfortunately this was a couple years back and I just didn't have the money or gas to get there. It's one of my biggest regrets. I'll catch you next time around, that I promise.

I don't reply to comments that was beautiful. Luckily, I've never been imprisoned for my bad choices. But I know your struggle. I know what it's like to crave, that burnt chicken smell. And to want something such as, h that makes you willing to do anything and everything. It's difficult, and I understand that fully. I sympathize and at the same time, wholly empathize with you, the struggles. Time doesn't matter, eventually it gets better, but it still sucks real bad. Much respect. Stay clean. I'm not even 30. But, I've been clean for almost ten years. :)

I don't reply to comments I totally relate. I've never been to prison, but have spent more than a year and a half of my life first in juvi then in jail. I was lucky and got out in time...just hit 3 years clean from heroin/opiates last month. Sadly most of my friends didn't and are now either dead or in prison. I've been a fan of Conor's since I was 15 and am actually seeing him in concert tonight in Grass Valley, CA (my 10th Conor show ever). I hate to sound super cheesy and cliche, but his music has gotten me through countless tough times and soothed me when I felt alone in life. I truly can't imagine life without his words.

I swear man, when this man dies....I'll cry for a week. I have loved his music since sixth grade. I'm a junior in college now, and this music has helped grow me into the man I am today. It's gotten me through low points and helped me celebrate high points, I don't go a day without listening to at least two songs by him. This guy has saved my life, and I'm eternally greatful.

maybe he is the most prolific songwriter of this century, but at the same time the most underrated in this fucking world

Songwriting, in the great scheme of things, is an unimportant craft, but for those of us who appreciate such things Conor ranks as highly as the 20th Century's very best.

Gary Lindsay the changes in his tone and voice in the lyrics over the years are great. From strange stirrings of a youthful kid to bigger topics slowly coming through in the lyrics over the years is an amazing thing to see in a songwriter or poet. "Whatever you are be a good one."- A man with a childhood home in Indiana. "Be great or be great at it."- an unknown writer. *20th and 21st century

i listened to digital ash in its entirety the other day on the way to pick up my dad from the airport and it was one of the better moments of my life.

Digital ash is a masterpiece (so is everything else) but there's something so beautiful about how he released that album with a alt-country album on the same day and both had great songs from beginning to end.. He is an unbelievably incredible lyricist and songwriter it blows my mind how he hasn't written a bad song since he started even his music when he was 13 was was ahead of its time

I love how he's going back with a primarily blues vibe. I mean, everything else he's done is just as amazing, but I'm really digging the blues.
