Right, I am over 60, but did study automotive engineering back in the very early 1980s, so know my way around spanners et al. Took me about an hour to get the right sized Torx that was hidden in the loft. Then, and this is the bit that is relevant to my age, get most of your body into the passenger footwell, turn over onto your back, and work upside down, while all the time hoping that no one comes along and kicks you in the nads (ex Public School I am). Why do Ford make something like this so hard to get to. Took me 4 years to find out where the power steering reservoir was.

Ok. I managed to replace mine. Its a bit awkward to get to but very do-able. Best thing to do is to remove the glovebox completely. You're looking at an hour to hour and half in total. Its right in the middle of the car. If you remove the glovebox you can see it but you can only see the top screw. Top one is easy to get out but the bottom screw is more difficult as you cant see the screwhead. I made the job easier by using the camera and flash on my phone. However getting the bottom one back in was very awkward. To get the glove box out you need to remove the plastic trim with the airbag sticker first. Next remove the strip of plastic along the bottom of the glovebox. This covers the screwheads for the door of the box and the heater piping to warm up the footwell. I removed these thinking i had to....im not sure you have to. You then need to pull back the plastic that surrounds the gearstick in the front passenger footwell. Almost where your right calf would be touching if you were sitting in front passenger seat. (Right hand drive of course) Theres a screw behind it what keeps the glovebox in place as well as the screws on the upper part and lower part of box. Removing and replacing the glovebox takes up most of the time. If anyone needs to replace the heater matrix or wants to remove the glovebox all together I'd be more than happy to make a quick video and post it.

Changed mine this morning in about 20 minutes, passenger side on uk fiesta. Bit Awkward but no need to take out glovebox (work for nothing) . Would easily fit next one in 15 minutes

I'll be changing mine soon. Only working on 3 and 4...and after around 15 minutes starts to smell.

Any ideas of this resistor being shot would stop the heater fan working altogether
@conorpower2 жыл бұрын
Check the fuses first anyway. Could be the fan itself

Does someone know if it is on the same position on a right wheel drive car?

@@MrHemsleyboy Yes it is there on the same place, but it is really hard to reach, if you remove the gas pedal it gets a bit easier, I tried for more than one hour, but eventually I did just hand it in to a mechanic

@@TheOne24115 I've bought the part online and will collect today. How much/long did it take the mechanic?

Not massively helpful if you don't show how you got the blower motor resistor to be accessible in the first place
@conorpower2 жыл бұрын
You can see the fusebox there I just released it and pulled it down. You get your head under it with a torch and have a poke around you will see it it's kind of in the middle of the area of the fusebox.
