Jeff Loomis is from another planet, there's no way this kind of talent can come from Earth.

A good lead usually ride's on a great rhythm or musical backdrop. Keith Merrow doesn't get enough credit imo. I'd love to see these guys make another album.

+Damien Mutzakki Your right man hes VERY underrated, I used to watch this mans original music about 6-7 yrs back he's the reason I got a 7 string, He's a true genius that knows his shit, But with a player like Loomis I guess your gonna be a little overshadowed... Is it right? Not really but thats how it is... He's the lead player... Not everybody wants to write amazing beats an riffs... they wanna be the gut that melts the neck to any rythem he hears lol.... But in reality Loomis wouldnt be soloing to it if it wasn't merrows CHUNKIN face melting RIFFS an blasts that make it come together like Dystopia does.... Love em till death.. fukn sick

Bye Felicia couldn't agree more! This guy is in a league of his own.
@manny755867 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Michelangelo needed a well constructed structurally sound ceiling for his painting in the Cistine chapel. Without it we'd be talking about some paint that used to be on a church ceiling.
@clinder272 жыл бұрын
I've never perceived him as underrated. He's playing rhythm in this particular collaboration because Loomis is the guitar monster-God who culminated this super group. Morrow was more than happy to help bring this monster masterpiece to life. Nonetheless, Morrow's independent stuff, as lead guitarist speaks for itself.

what a great song! the solo at 2:22 is genius! the mutes, so good!

2:21 things get really serious, the calm parts add even more to the heaviness

That octave riff Jeff plays starting at 1:07, I always expect the third part of that riff starting at 1:14 to have a major third, not a minor, G instead of F#, but I guess that diminished feel is exactly what you were going for. Great work!

shmimbadad well said man, I totally agree.
@NGDemonSlayer1210 жыл бұрын
that's kinda true, but it usually takes bands around 10 years before they gain any momentum. There's lots of good albums coming from bands that have been around for 20+ years, so the state of metal isn't bad at all, just we're seeing fewer new bands with the same fire and intensity these guys have. At least this early into its inception.
@Beyond-Antares10 жыл бұрын
Matt Newman Really? Have you looked to Europe? There's some incredible prog-metal & prog-death metal thats come out from there. Necrophagist, opeth's work with Ghost Reveries, katatonia's new direction, anything and everything by Dan Swano, persephone, the list goes on. Or are you considering new artists only?
@NGDemonSlayer1210 жыл бұрын
If you read my comment, I'm talking about bands that only started within the last 10 years, I don't live under a rock when it comes to metal, most of my favorite bands are European.

I have an odd comment. I drove further for no other band than to see Nevermore perform at prog power USA when never performed alongside Zero Hour (local for me). I went for Jeff Loomis. He took a Polaroid picture with me back then because digital cameras were new and I was poor. When I head conquering dystopia, I wanted to see the kinda riffs he was playing, but conquering dystopia, or maybe even Jeff himself has made sure these are not available to the fans because of the normal bs... wants to make money off of it. If you're struggling playing and touring world wide with arch enemy, find a new gig. You are the most amazing guitar player I've ever watched live and I can't do anything nearly like you, especially this godless endeavor, I shit my pants even considering playing those sweeps. Give tab fans a little love, you capitalist bastard. We have loved you since Sanctuary and Nevermore is the greatest band I've ever known. This godless endeavor is something beyond even RUST IN PEACE. So, getting all crazy about your tabs? Most people can't play like you. We just want ideas. So you know what? You're soiling yourself in our minds. Hope it makes you an extra couple bucks while all your fans trying to get ideas are making far less.

Been following you since you started on KZbin, man.
