I know it's kind of a boomer take to say "tone is in the fingers", but it does hold SOME legitimacy; an experienced guitar player will sound like themselves with any kind of similar gear. Of course, Keith won't get his usual tone with an archtop and a pignose, but through a high gain amp and his usual guitars? Every time.

The Keith Merrow neck through guitars are some of the most well thought out metal guitars out there. Neck, pickups, controls, bridge, strap button location, colors.... This one looks just as awesome. These instruments deserve more internet recognition. Although actual metal musicians seem to know exactly what these are. I was so dumb to sell mine a few years ago...

I wonder what drives guys like Keith to keep searching for tones after all these years at the top. Like, for me, this tone sounds a little different from those used in his old videos for his classic tracks, but not necessarily better. Personally I would not find the change compelling enough to keep pursuing for so long. Dude must be built different.

The goal is actually to find that old sound. As with everything that I test out, I to try to land at the guitar tone I imagine in my head. I'm very particular about my sound, and if a piece of gear isn't capable of this flavor you're hearing here, it isn't useful to me. But yeah, I have a sound I go for that is pretty specific.

@@KeithMerrow OK so it's all just different approaches to coincide with what's in your head. Very cool, and the new finish is awesome. (if i may suggest something, the output jack location gets in the way of classical position, could put it on the back like the Abasi Larada)

@@shubniggurath6464 Yeah the KM7 is actually so thin that this jack location is about the only spot it'll fit. But I play in classical on occasion and the jack position has never been a problem at all. But I've also NEVER used a guitar cable that didn't have a 90 degree end on at least one end of it, so it isn't a problem either way. Thanks for dropping by to check out the video!
