Conquering Fears | Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge | Walking & Hiking

This week I tackle a fear of mine and that is heights, no better place than the Carrick-A-Rede rope bridge on the North Coast of Northern Ireland. With a neat 100 foot drop to sea below the 20 meter rope bridge sways from side to side in the wind. After this I take in some coastal walk along the Causeway Cliffs.

@@jamesoutandaboutn.i227 cheers James. It was definitely moody 😂, if it was any stronger winds you could be mistaking it was a November morning not July 😂. There looked to be a nice stone beach at the bottom of Larrybane but I never got that far down.

@@YONDERMOUNTAINADVENTURES thank you so much Simon mate. It’s a wild price for something so quick but it does get a great crowd of tourists so it’s not putting them off 😂. It would be a cracking place for a tent that island but I’d need to climb a few gates 😂.

Yea it says pre booking advised but I think it’s changed now to you must book, but loads of tickets available to book on the day unless you got really unlucky I’d say. Thanks for taking me down memory lane! Been there a few times with visitors and friends and definitely better with good weather and crowds. Not sure how a wild camper like yourself can have fears!! I'm not great with heights either but the bridge for me was no problem. Were NT members so for us it's free but £15.50 is ridiculous, fiver would be fair. We parked last time in Larrybaine so looks like they don't use that any more. Games of Thrones is not for the faint hearted, brutal, and violent but it brings in tourism up there, coach loads of followers. Ballintoy Harbour is really special though and the cafe is good! @@ashleyjarnold No problem Ashley 👍. Yea I thought £15.50 was a bit much but it doesn’t seem to turn people away. Heights turn my stomach, my legs just go from me, I could just freeze sometimes. I was going to call into the cafe but unfortunately I was craving a fry and they didn’t do them so just headed back into town, it’s a lovely wee place. @@GeoffGreenawayOutdoors We are all different!! Andrea has no problem with heights, I drag her away from the edges!! The Mournes are fairly safe, but the Lake District has a number of hairy spots that you need to know what you are doing. Crib Goch in snowdonia is on another level, worth watching some day. Ashley

Brilliant mate. I also have a fear of heights. I tried Slieve League, managed it but my goodness, my legs and stomach went mental.
