I am still feeling a tightness in my chest from the stress of squeezing through those narrow roads. The lardo was also quite the adventure. You've certainly displayed your courage in this episode. Thanks for the guided tours through this area of Italy. Everywhere you go has such a rich history, and Snow's soothing voice makes her a perfect narrator. Thanks for taking us along. Stay safe.

I have to say my philosophy in watching these videos is if they’re making this video then everything is all right, but I couldn’t help it. I couldn’t stop myself from holding my breath when you were going through those narrow alleys, a.k.a. streets, I kept telling myself they’re all all right they didn’t get stuck, but I still found myself holding my breath. I love your videos!

Oooh, can't wait to see you climbing those steep roads in Florence - we kept muttering "thighs of steel, thighs of steel" to keep moving, LOL. We loved that town, the food was awesome, and the architecture out of this world. I was amazed that the main cathedral is only 1/3 "done" because The Plague wiped out all the workers back in the 1300's. Gorgeous.

Good morning my dear friends Snow and Curt. Carrera marble is so beautiful and it’s great seeing it first hand through your travels. While in Italy I had lardo on a toasted “sourdough” type of bread at a friends home. It was delicious. So glad that Curt saved the left overs for his breakfast. Snow you were “the bomb” driving through those narrow roads. Well done and a mini melt down was probably good for you after that! Have a safe journey.

I don't blame you for melting down, Snow. I would have stopped in the middle of the road and let my hubbie take over. lol. But you did it! Way to go. I eat low carb, so the lardo would be great for me....but the polenta and the potatoes would be a no-no...I would cheat though, because they looked wonderful. Thanks, as always, for taking us along. By the way, you folks sure seem to bring the best out of people and that special tour at the restaurant is another example of that.

Puuuh; that was a close shave😂 Lovely episode, nice seeing the Carrara open mine and the lardo in the making! The pig cheeks are going to be Guanciale, mostly lard with a little streak of pork; very flavourful and traditionally used for Carbonara 😋😋😋 And yes; the south European cars have foldable side mirrors 😅🙌🏼🙋‍♀️

I’m so impressed you took a full bite of lardo! I would have taken a quarter as much not knowing its taste and flavor. Bravo!! And that ultra skinny road! Would have taxed my heart too. I used to work at a kitchen and bath store. We were always trying to talk people out of ordering Marble for their showers. It doesn't hold up to water well, it get's rust stains. They are buying for the look, so we would steer them to a Porcilin Tile that looked like marble and came in larger sizes to give them the look.

I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to try lardo. That would be too much fat for me. haha How cool that you got to take that tour. Yeah those marble boxes were impressive. Going down the hill was probably a lot easier than up! :) Those roads were...nail biters. I would have been exhausted and had a meltdown after that adventure too.

The narrow road scenario is frequently a problem for people with big campervans in Europe and the UK. In France they have laws banning vehicles over a certain size in small villages.

I know how you feel. Eating food and not knowing the language is so adventurous. I lived in Japan and my first year was such a food adventure. Not knowing what the food was and trying to figure it out. I look back and remember what I liked missing some of it and I found out later some things I ate and was very surprised to say the least. Have fun and enjoy.

Good morning Snow and Curt (I'm channeling Curt's voice with that opening) ☀️ OMG Snow, kudos to you and your fantastic driving skills, that was one heck of a road. I was so worried a child was going to run out of one of those doors into your path. So freaking scary. Curt, you were so supportive. I love how you both handle stressful situations, with calm voices with only a few curses thrown 😱 You didn't need to tell on yourself about the mini meltdown, we won't have guessed 😉 The relief when you finally turned onto that paved road was felt. What a fabulous little town, so cool! Curt, not sure what I loved most, you interrupting Snow with your piggy noises or your rendition of Queen, my fav group of all time. I'm so jealous of both your tasting menu of Larderia (sp?) as well as Curt's breakfast the next day, it all looked delicious 😋 It's too bad you didn't get a chance to tour the mines, however we really appreciate all the fantastic info on the mines. I actually have a small bit of marble from that mine in our bathroom so this was super cool for me. Safe travels and we'll see you in Florence on Wednesday, 🤗🇨🇦

Wow! That marble is something else. I hope they do restrict the amount of marble mined. It will make the cost higher but people especially in that town need to leave a legacy for their own families. Snow, what a workout! First, walking up hill then driving those roads. And Curt, I would have been more inclined to try lardo your way. I know lard was used by Americans to survive through tough times. Thanks for the video.
