I think you hit the nail on the head with these guys, you pretty much WANT your team to be meatshields before pushing the Silahdars in otherwise they're gonna get wrecked. Course that means you need teammates who are smart enough not to go running off on their own with their units and chasing kills only to get dogpiled and killed along with their unit.

strongly recommend putting them in the 3 position past the enemy direction right before engaging. the same way youd push the mouse to line up a cavalry charge, put the waypoint for them past the enemy. that way they move together as a cluster, then activate first their slap chop, then the death strike. when they are in cover commander and follow you into the battle they tend to not be facing the right way, and when you activate the abilities they do it in whatever direction their facing! you will see wildly better results in most engagements.

@donovankennedy2540 that's good advice! I like to use the 2 formation but essentially the same method. Somehow it just never came up in this match - doh!

Surpisingly, as far as I know, handbananas guide is still accurate for this unit.

Speaking as a certified Silahdar expert, both of their doctrines do nothing or at least as close to nothing as you can get. Go top line and put two T5 defense doctrines on them along with the highest tier hero and unit damage doctrines you have, the 5th doctrine is your choice. With the previously stated setup they can face tank most gold cavalry, and cut through pretty much every T5 infantry (with some situational exceptions) Maidens and Modao stand 0 chance and Stalwarts are food, they can walk through Fortes too.

Their 10% movement speed increase is broken and doesnt give any buffs, 50 less ranged damage taken is terrible compared to what you could use its slot for. Deathstrike is your last resort, always start with Decapitate because Deathstrike has terrible damage (hitting only 2 units with much lower damage and armor pen compared to Decapitate).

Thanks fir adding to the conversation! I could certainly up-doctrine them but I seldom use them and I do so many videos that I cant swap them around to have maximum on every unit I show because doctrine water is expensive! :) Did not know the 10% doctrine was busted!

I think silahdars are so enjoy. Their fight mechanic and watching the skills is too good. I like the sound of their poleaxes also

I’ve started to use them again even today and with the epic combat doc on them from last season they’re really pretty good. I’ve gotten mine up to 1850 on both slashing pen and damage they do work and definitely slap chop things 😂

I actually use 2 damage reduction doctrines on them, one 80 all def 5% dmg reduction, one 250 health, 4% dmg reduction. On top of that, the unit specific doctrines and a blue slashing doctrine. I go bottom, because it makes them more tanky, and they absolutely slap. Still, I CAN get outplayed.

Aw yis, mega slap chops! I could certainly add better doctrines but I use them so seldom I can't justify tarting them up. When I do these vids I typically just show whatever docs are on them at the time, to shift them all around between videos would cost me a small fortune in doctrine water :)

An upgraded Silahdars is given a square shield and floppy hat to mark their excellent service. True chads.

Just got out of a long night shift, amazing to see your video when Im about to do a breakfast! Gotta ask for something tho, can you do a video about 'non-seasonal units' to grind levels for to carry us for our seasonal challenges in post 100+ levels games. Im having a hard time building a good team comp, as a poleaxe hero I use Iron reapers, palace guards and halbedier srgnts. I read your advice on getting imp. spearguards and shinjis. But it was an old comment, since game is updating fairly often, its always nice to get your advice.. PS: I really like paladins and stalwarts but idk if they are worth getting as a seasonal unit, when there is shield maidens/varangians to grind..

Lol! I read that as non-consensual units and was making this face --> O.o Yeah the ol' Imperial Spears are a bit down and out these days, Shenjis are still ridiculously overpowered. Reapers are still OK, Palace Guard are great, Halb Sgts also a good pick these days! Stalwarts are tip top meta right now, Paladins are scrubs :( I did make a tier list for all units last season, was that not helpful? Need more detail?

@@KnightStalker It was great, I do always take that unit tier list as a reference, yet it always better to watch you play it. You have tons of little quirks with units, hell you even make low tier units work in all golden unit games! :D

I was staring at your barracks! How did you get so much exp to level everything up to max? Is it just from play time? I have been grinding Expedition 3s but it takes so long just for one unit

I've been playing almost daily for like... 3 years. I'm also not a free to play player, I use premium account, merc units, purple exp cards, blue exp books which all stack. You'll get 290% experience by doing all that. Doing exped 3 on repeat would make me want to cry :( When I get a new unit to level up I typically do the five bandit raids with all boosters active and that gives like 245k experience per run if you get 180+ kills. From there it's just finding what you enjoy and playing while it accumulates :)

hell yeah! ive noticed they can beat quite a few units, including many gold infantry, i tend to avoid modao tho

I always doubt myself when people raise queries (as you should!) because all I can say is it kinda feels like thats the way it works when I am playing (as with a lot of things I talk about)... but you know what? I have never actually tested this!

Silahdar really fell off i dont see them in battle anymore and the only youtubers that still use silahdar in their vids is only poncho

They really have, we almost never see them anymore on our server too. They are quite tricky to do well with because they need patience and a single mistake typically wipes them. There are so many other simplistic, very basic to use but also very powerful units now (Shenjis, Catas, Myrms etc) that we are seeing a decline in high skill cap units.
