It's amazing how many similar sites are up there! Way to go with that handsaw. While you'll get lots of comments about chainsaws, a simple hand saw is still a cost effective, easy to transport solution - still, that 2nd tree, Wow! Good for you! I have that Tiregater table and love it. It's particularly nice when loading and unloading as just a place to set stuff so it's out of the wet or dust. You might want to consider an amber or red LED alternative for your tent light as those hues are much less likely to draw in insects. I start with that and once the tent is closed, move to white. I have amber & red interior lights for the same reason. Keep up the good work. Love seeing locals out and about. You have a very nice tone to your videos as well.
@ConquestOverland3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I know the hand saw wasn't ideal but still got the job done at the end of the day while burning a couple calories 😉. Good tip on the light, I've used red in the past and need to go back to it as the bugs are horrible with the standard white. Sincerely appreciate the continued support! Hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend and happy New Years!
@TheKPDX3 жыл бұрын
@@ConquestOverland I primarily used red for decades but in this KZbin time, I noticed the Aussies selling primarily amber lights and then did some field testing with my own amber and red lights down in the Greenwater basin in August. Finally, did a little light research and apparently orange (of which amber is closest if not orange by a different name) is apparently the wavelength least likely to attract. I had one of those little UV light & bug zappers but all that did was draw insects to the campsite and create a horrendous mess. Now I only use it once I've sealed the truck or tent and want to eliminate any stragglers I didn't exclude.
@TheKPDX3 жыл бұрын
@@ConquestOverland Honestly, I loved the handsaw. I've done this kind of stuff for 30 years and most of it was on a shoe string budget and needed to be inexpensive and portable. I always appreciate when someone out there shows that you can do this stuff without fancy equipment. Again - that big log was quite an accompishment. If I couldn't have dragged it out of the way, I probably would have been lazy and turned around. Good on you for clearing the trail.

My opinion of the Bat Wing awning: JUNK! 6 broken hinges in less than a year, zipper on the bag broke, tear on the fabric near a hinge when it broke, two up right poles that wont hold. Contacted Rhino and they were very rude and told me "maybe you should buy another brand if your not happy with ours" No more Rhino for me and by the way, there was no wind when these failures occurred. Just the weight was enough to break it when setting up. This is an awning that takes two to set up and I'm not so sure that would keep this P.O.S.from breaking. Rhino also accused me of abusing it, not true I always take good care of my equipment. I have been "Overlanding" for 48 years and know what good equipment is, went back to my old proven system. Another awesome video!
@ConquestOverland3 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, 6 hinges is certainly a lot! Definitely unfortunate about all the bad experiences even worse when the company won't offer the most basic problem resolutions. Good thing there are many more options out on the market but as with anything, quality long lasting gear is worth the upfront investment. Thanks again for the continued support!

Thank you very much for the support! Washington certainly has plenty of trails to offer, many of which a fairly tame and just need a sense of adventure! The BDR is a fantastic trail during our summer months. With the snow melt off, you shouldn't have any issues taking on this trip. Mainly gravel roads with the occasional deep potholes of rutted out sections all of which could be taken on with a 4x4 vehicle and proper tire placement. Stay tuned as I'm hoping to put together a meet up one of these days.

I would Echo his support. There are plenty of places you should be safe by yourself. Historically I always traveled remote and solo. Just make sure you have a spare tire and don't go over anything you don't think you could return through. Knowing when to stop/turn around is the most important skill of all. The WABDR is a great place to start, especially the Liberty to Ellensburg routes or maybe Umptanum ridge. Another group to consider is NWOL (Northwest Overland)

Love the views and gear. Went on a overlanding trip to central Oregon with some serious overland pros. They had a backup plan for their backup plan. They had HF radio which could transmit 400 miles, refrigerators, ice cream, fire wood, 10 gallons of spare fuel, trama kits, board games, extra water and shade. What none of them had was a RTT or a "Raptor Awning ". "Attaching things to a movable platform makes it stationary, if your zipper on your RTT or Awning gets stuck, you have to deal with it to move and you paid a great amount of money for it. Ground tents and awnings, not so much.
