That's an awesome cg. Stayed there a couple of years ago when I managed to randomly reserve a spot there. I think we had the spot next to you. I used to really dislike the Oregon Coast, but I've started to really enjoy it the last couple of years. My family ended up doing a similar mountains to coast trip when I was younger. Started off looking around Adams for a dispersed site. Ended up striking out, so headed to Newport and stayed there.

Such a good video michael! The pictures clicked in added a nice new format and I LOVE the music overlaying the nature sounds. Perfect balance and my ears and eyes were happy watching! Can’t wait to hear more of your new year adventures and what’s to come in Oregon.

Great video and thanks for the updates. They say a change is as good as a rest…and you’ve got that covered! I’m a bit surprised at the sleeping change up. Did you consider putting some lighter gear on a case on top of the RTT? Sleeping in the Jeep has it’s benefits, but it’ll be all to easy to pile “stuff” on top of the bed then have to clean it all up when it’s time to make camp. Do you then put extra gear outside while sleeping? Not trying to be negative…just pondering as I too like to keep things fresh.
@WanderAsOne8 ай бұрын
We’re still trying to work out the quirks as we take more and more trips with this set up! We have seemed to narrow down the things on top of the “bed” to things that are taken out and set up once arriving at camp such as the kitchen table, devos lights, our personal bags are moved to the front seats etc and then the bed is ready to go! We’re hoping to get out here again soon to share a little more on the set up 😊

Gated and blocked by snow…..welcome to Oregon lol I’d tell you it gets better but I’d be lying 😂. That said if you escape down south more and over towards the coastal ranges you can find some sweet spots and learn where the best chances of not getting blocked by gates and snow are

Micheal and Shelby, how do you like the Jeep Grand Cherokee to the Toyota 4Runner? Thanks for your answers and I love your channel, thank you for the awesome tour and videos of your travels, from Florida.
@ConquestOverland6 ай бұрын
If you're looking to go all out on aftermarket parts and make an "overland rig" the 4Runner is the way to go. Aftermarket support for the Grand Cherokee is nearly non-existent, though I knew that when I bought it. I love the GC for how much comes with it out of the gate. Everything from tech, luxury, towing capability, air lift suspension, and efficiency. I have more than double the milage and range (30+ mpg fully loaded) as opposed to a built out 4Runner can get but certainly cannot "rock crawl" like a 4Runner. At the end of the day you have to find something that works best for you. I personally only wanted to buy a vehicle and use it right away for my type of travels as opposed to buying a vehicle and then dumping tens of thousands of dollars into making it what you see on social media. Hope that helps! In the coming weeks I'll be filming a walk around of the Jeep to help explain my these questions and why I shook up my audience going from a Tacoma to this 🤣

ALL of the Mount Hood campgrounds close on October 1st, which is way too early if you ask me. Although, there is plenty of dispersed camping if you know where to look.
@ConquestOverland9 ай бұрын
Knowing where to look is the key… especially on a limited time budget though I’d say we still made the best of it despite those challenges 😉

Hey brother - welcome to the state, I hope you enjoy yourself. I ask that please please while you’re here do not publicly out the places you’re camping at. It has an impact. I’ve lived here a long time and I’ve seen a huge impact from social channels like this sharing areas that weren’t highly trafficked. It’s very frustrating and impacts the people that live locally. Anyways have fun, and if you’re ever looking for someone to get out with around here I’m game
@ConquestOverland9 ай бұрын
Completely understand where you’re coming from on that. I’m sure you’ve noticed in all videos of mine I do not specifically mention locations (aside from public knowledge of campgrounds) nor do I offer coordinates on paid platforms such as Patreon like many others unfortunately do… I recognize the impact and have even been apart of numerous trail clean ups through Tread Lightly. It’s definitely unfortunate but always need to remind those to leave it better than you found it. With that said, I’m game to learn more about this beautiful state during our short stay here. Let’s make it happen!
