I had a very interesting meeting with Conrad and his wife Barbara (who I knew prior to her marrying Conrad) back in the mid nineties. It was a chance meeting, which ended up with us having dinner. They are both extremely intelligent, generous with their time and very entertaining. And whilst Conrad was born into a very wealthy and privileged family, which I wasn't, did not in any way affect the graciousness in which he spoke to me. He's a remarkable man.

The injustices of the American legal system have nothing to do with someone who's capable of spending 31million on a legal defense. It's ignorance on his part to lump himself in with the majority of convicts in America who lack the means to mount a proper defense, and/or were subjugated to perversions of the criminal penal system. The investigation into Black took years! compare that to some black kid in new york convicted of minor drug possession on a random Stop and Frisk.

@rpselk11 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Justice is disproportionate. It favors those who can afford a proper legal defense. Furthermore, Black clearly belongs to a class of people who are much less likely to be prosecuted in the first place. I'm not saying he is or he isn't guilty, I'm saying that his reference to an unjust legal system as bolstering his case of innocents is ignorant/or wrong, as the statistic he cites; 97% of trials end in convictions, is in reference to a class issue for which he does not belong.
