Ah, the good old days of Conrail, we all miss it. I sure do miss the Leslie RS3L. But, I hear it every once and a while its sad. The good old days faded away. But probably the coolest thing on this video is those SD40-2s! Notching up it just sounds great!

Another great compilation. The ore trains were definitely nice to see on video.

Conrail made a good choice in the SD40-2 diesel. It had good low-speed traction, and was more reliable and fuel efficient than the SD45. I think Wikipedia says they bought 161 SD40-2's.

The SD40-2 was the most popular locomotive of the day, with nearly 10'000 units, with Burlington Northern at the top.

Is'nt it any wonder the SD40-2's were the most popular engine available from EMD for all class 1 railroads across the country!

At 6:00, a late model Datsun? Before they were renamed Nissans...

Looks like a 1980 model, Datsun changed to Nissan in 1984.

I see there's a shot at Mertztown in this video. Was there a mechanical bell on the crossing in that time?

Thanks. I've never found a picture of that crossing in the Conrail era. Guessing it was a WCH or Safetran?
@fmnut9 жыл бұрын
It was probably WRRS like most of the other gear from the Reading Era on this line.

Well I hope you can find a video of that crossing in action one day. Maybe even Sonnen's Road if possible.
