This has been the most helpful video about a plate tear, thank you so much for this.

I just want to be real and tell everyone on here this injury is a real pain. I’m going on 8 months and still no resolution. If you think you have this I would start extremely conservative treatment right now to avoid long term problems.

What grade tear did you have? Do you know? Was it a partial tear, complete rupture?
@ryancompton7598 Жыл бұрын
For whatever reason, don’t remeber if it was me or the doctor, I didn’t get an MRI until after wearing a boot for 9 weeks. MRI only showed minor ‘bone edema’. Was there a tear before that? No one knows. It also possible for MRI to miss a small tear. Recently had an ultra sound that also didn’t find anything. So in my case there is enough pain to prevent me from living a normal life but no obvious tear that could be surgically operated on.

Right now I am working with someone trained in the techniques of Dr. Andreo Spina for PT. It’s a very different approach than I have had so far and hopeful I may see a solution here. Next thing to try to after that would be a series of EPAT treatments. After that a cortisone injection. After that exploratory surgery.

How’s the injury now?

Agree! My symptoms started in August. I saw a podiatrist. He misdiagnosed it as a stress fracture. Had an MRI in November which showed a full thickness tear of the plantar plate. He put me in a surgical shoe and said to call him in 3 weeks if no better to schedule surgery. I sought a 2nd opinion from an ortho foot/ankle doc. He gave me a carbide orthotic and a toe straightener. The orthotic is torture. I saw him again and he said to go without both and if no better then "the writing is on the wall" as far as needing surgery. And the podiatrist and ortho doc both said they'd do DIFFERENT surgical techniques!! This is all beyond frustrating. I used to walk 3 miles and day and take 3 HIIT classes a week--had to stop all that. Last hope is a stem cell injection. If that doesn't work then it's surgery. Ugh.

I've only seen the taping of the 2nd toe and wondered how that could help. Taping the 2nd and 3rd toe makes much more sense!

I have had one on my left foot for 5 years. Seen 3 different doctors for conservative treatment. No luck. I have noticed my stability and balance getting worse now. This is a horrible nagging injury.

How do we know how many toes to tape? I’ve seen other videos only tape the second toe. Thank you for this informational video!

It’s confirm that I have plantar plate tearing and it’s been almost 6 months it’s not cure yet. I have met 10 doctors 😔 . No one really tell I should put something like in ur video. Now I’m gonna try it . Huge thanks

Same here. I went to so many podiatrists and none of them can figure out. I just took an mri and it says I got plantar plates tear on my 4th toe because my toe was yanked by someone.

Have you been able to fix your? Such a pain in the butt.

Other videos seem to tape just the 2nd toe, and you taped 2nd & 3rd toes together. My plantar plate, toes 2-3, is a deformity that has recently worsened even though I only wear vionics. Thank you for this, I will give it a try. Hope the pads work well with vionics.

Thank you for this video, I am going to be trying this taping technique tonight after work and the felt met pad so that I don't have to walk around barefoot with pain and hopefully can help speed up my recovery. Just a quick question....How come you advise to buddy tape the 2nd and 3rd toes together in downward flexion rather than just the 2nd toe?

I have no pain just toes separating toes

For almost 9 months with so many podiatrists I visited, no one can even diagnose my plantar plates tear. Now finally went to do contrast mri now someone find it. My 4th toe was yanked by someone and I have been in pain, swelling for 9 months without any kind of treatment. Well for 9 months, they can’t find anything!!!

I sat on my feet with my ankle 90° to my toes while working. This put alot of pressure on my toe joints and specially the 2nd toe joint. The flesh beneath the 2nd joint shifted, some of it forward and some of it backwards creating a small hole right beneath the joint... I don't know what to do 😭😭. The toe has not yet lifted up but it feels as if something is wrong with the second toe joint. Please please please can you suggest me anything?? 🙏🙏

Will it help the the separation I’m seeing between the 2nd and 3rd toe? it’s been about 1 1/2 years now…after kicking football that my second toe was injured and felt “crunching” was all black and blue…but then was feeling better…had X ray, no fractures. but now I’ll just be sitting here or even will wake me up in middle of the night throbbing! and seeing the separation of 2nd and 3rd toe and also the swelling on the bottom side. I’m going to get some tape and those pads. I’ve tried gel pads but like you said, they don’t work the best.

Can this treatment be used to fix floating toe that showed up after undergoing percutenious surgery on a second hammertoe?
@OZ012093 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Thank you. These symptoms started a week ago and slowly progressing. I was wondering if this would be something that could be fixed with stem cell injection, thank you for mentioning that!!! 🙏 I really don't want surgery. I'm hoping it's just a strain. 🤞

I'm a dancer and this injury came on strong after a full two and a half month intense rehearsal and performance schedule. I have flat feet, so it wasn't surprising. My podiatrist also made your same suggestions. I've had some relief, but I wonder with as active as I stay, will this ever completely go away without surgery? How does stem cell treatment work?

thanks for this, my doc gave a budin splint and said if it doesnt work we'll do surgery. I don't want surgery and I can tell this doesn't do enough to stabilize the toe. I'll tape, pad and get some rockers.

Can you treat a plantar plate tear with Epat therapy and exosome at the same time? If not or you had to pick one what is the more effective ? There doesnt seem to be any literature if you can use them in combination or which one is the more effective. It seems exosome is slightly more effective then stem cell but there isnt much in the literature about that as well . Thank you!

What stretches do you recommend for a plantar plate tear? So much conflicting info about not scrunching the toes . My podiatrist told me the towel on the floor and pull in with toes and ive seen videos saying not to do this.

What if the space is between the 3rd and 4th toes. Should those two be taped together, instead of the first two toes which are smashing into each other already and the 3rd toe is trying to turn into a hammer toe. Wait for a second option with a foot dr.

Hi there, I’m new to your channel but I love your videos! Quick question: I have flat feet, anterior pelvic tilt and kyphotic posture. I’m doing various things in the gym to strengthen my glutes, TVA and mid/lower traps and I do a bit of chest stretching too, (I know I should be putting in more effort to stretch my hip flexors). Now, the latest thing I’m trying is walking on my tip toes. Apparently this is a flat feet and APT cure. So far I’ve found that it does force a stretch on my toes, creates a plantar arch, and encourages more neutral hip alignment. My main concern is that it might also cause my calves to tighten which would be counter productive! I was just wondering if you have any thoughts on my tip toe walking. Thanks!

Hi, I have nerve pain on the inside of the second toe of each foot toward the big toe. Is this a Morton's Neuroma? Also, would an MRI be done on both feet or would one MRI sufficie as the symptoms are the same in each toe?
@Charliepup20232 жыл бұрын
Do you have tingling in the toes? If so it’s likely to Morton’s if no tingling could be a plantar tear.
