I have this. Only trouble it really gives me is that I can't wear square toed shoes and I have large feet as a woman...size 9.5 UK or 10.5 us, 44 EU. I would be smaller if it wasn't for the toe. Don't get me wrong, I still have big feet for a woman, but I wear a size larger, just to compensate for the toe...it's the two toes actually. I am 6 ft tall though, so we expect a size 8 shoe normally for my height wear flipflops alot as when I was a kid I had to wear shoes that were too small. My toe knuckles got a bit deformed....it's totally correctable...wear flip flops as soon as you get home or bear foot. My toes are straight now, but was very close to being permanently damaged by wearing shoes that didn't fit me....they just don't make shoes my size for women on the shelves, plus the shape of the long toe. Been very hard to deal with.

I think I have the exact same feet, my feet goes side ways and I see her like even walking in ways to avoid putting too much pressure on the arch area. By standing on the heel your then putting more pressure on the arch collapsing down. So she’s doing anything she can to avoid that area and that’s exactly what I do. I am an adult.

That girl has literally the same feet as me. Also in order to take weight off of my foot which hurts I will twist my ankles and feet sideways to relieve pressure . As when I stand barefoot or flat footed for to long my ankles can almost twist to touch the ground inwards. It literally feels like I’m always on the middle bone of me foot , like standing on the arch bone

Yes! This could be my foot, for years I was told my feet are just flat footed. I was told I needed orthopedic arches. They said if I didn’t wear any I would need foot surgery and anyways my feet as such a mess. I hate how so many responses to this is “exercise will fix it”. I used to do cheer and did a lot of leg strengthening but it never fixed my arch or foot issue. It made it really hard to stay balanced on one foot especially in the air. I practiced a lot to become a flyer but when I would go into a stunt my foot had trouble balancing because I don’t have a normal arch. So in order to stand off my collapsed arch I would have to stand on an area that wasn’t my foot and if I actually stood like I normally would I’d fall in then I’d fall out of a stand so I never was able to fly much because I needed a lot of ankle support to make up for the foot I didn’t have. My feet are in so much pain. It’s more than just a flat arch, there is something that protrudes downwards and when I stand on it feels like I’m standing on a bone. So being in my feet long periods I hurts. My feet completely ruin my shoes and they go sideways .

My foot goes inward and my ankle collapses downwards and I have to wear super strong man arches and my shoes get destroyed by going side ways and don’t offer ankle support, often the shoes bow in where the ankles need support and when I ran sometimes due to it falling in my ankle with suddenly snap on and it hurts!

Now im frustrated because I had to get a man’s arch which is the only one that does anything and it was too wide for my new work shoes so it’s now pushing the ankle area of the shoe outwards to bow. Which I need that area to be tight in order to support my ankle and to keep the arch under my foot. So now my brand new shoes are going side ways and it’s so frustrating because these shoes naturally have a heel which helps my foot stay upwards and supported but it’s now bowing sideways which will make the whole shoe stretch out. I am so frustrated because I’m trying to tie my shoes sooo tight to make up for the support my arches / feet are ruining my shoes. They discontinued this shoe so now it will be very difficult to find another work shoe for my jobs. So I often stay with wedge heels because orthopedic shoes are so ugly. Wedges already have support with the ankle and arches so I don’t have to worry about replacing arches or them getting worn or worry how most shoes have no ankle support. However for most jobs they require certian shoes that don’t do good with my feet and my foot just smooshes the shoe and completely ruins them.

If it's faster to take multiple short steps, you'd move them faster, wouldn't you..? You're saying 'taking long strides' helps you move 'faster', yet, this would only true if you moved the greater distance in the same tempo. Intuitively, this seems wrong. Longer steps would take a longer time to swing through, so, if you say, faster times help us live longer, then, it follows that you should take quick short steps to get both a better workout and a faster stride and therefore a 'longer life'..? Or, are you saying the stride length can be varies by 'when' you kick off the rear ball of foot..?

Let’s keep it simple. The closer your legs are to your body, your body can use bigger muscle groups like the glutes, core, posterior muscles to run. The further away (overstriding), the higher chance to get injured due to not being able to absorb ground impact forces efficiently.

I personnaly walk barefoot most of the time & i don' t believe in any anti aging effect. Walking barefoot is excellent for the health, the spine, the posture etc...+ in general those poeple are doing yoga, sports, are vegetarians, are active, etc...clint ober is making a lot of blablabla about walking barefoot for me. I left europ for the desert in order to avoid shoes & have a more natural life 10 years before clint ober make his doc,+ book. It became fashion.it's all recuperation in order to make buziness...

Thank you for posting this. Your seminars on foot function and exercises have helped me make so much sense of lower leg and foot posture. I have reduced knee pain when riding a skateboard day after day over hundreds of miles and allow for a crazy amount of stability. After practicing short feet for a couple years I rode (a longboard) from fairbanks AK to Alberta in Canada and I felt absolutely solid and never had any knee aches. I wish I had known this back when I was a competitive racer. In my day job I train development athletes. Your intrinsic foot exercises have helped me improve the power of my young athletes and move beyond injuries. Honestly so many knee exercises are prescribed by physios and guys like the KOT guy and they miss this part of the equation. I have combined the hip airplane exercise with short feet and it has been a game changer for stabilizing my clients knees (and my own) and of course if you learn to do it with your eyes closed it's amazing for single leg balance. I'm currently trying to fashion drills that help apply these principles through the motion of jumping so this video has come out at a wonderful time for me. I'll be ordering your book asap too. I don't know how I missed it. Thank you again Dr. Splichal, To everyone else do these exercises multiple times per week.

Recommending people get rocker shoes or orthotics is not a solution for anything. Those are crutches. Crutches are not a solution for correcting the way somebody walks.

Very detailed presentation. Thank you. As for orthotics, these have enabled me to recover from plantar fasciitis related arch flare-ups a number of times. I recently tried walking barefioot around the house during our warmer summer weather, but it almost crippled me. I could barely walk. I have tried "short foot" but I cannot follow the instructions. I don't quite get it.

Thank you for sharing this incredibly valuable information. I was hoping you could help me with an issue I have been dealing with for the past 5 years. I believe I injured my right foot in 2019, during this time I was playing basketball competitively for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. fast forward 5 years, I am 26 and I am having symptoms of my entire right core and leg weakening like crazy and trouble breathing to the right side of my abdomen. When I try to run or exercise I feel extremely sore in my neck and back. I have noticed my right foot is a lot more arched than my left, it looks and feels as if my right abductor hallucis is tight 24/7 and walking/running does not feel as smooth and coordinated as my left foot. Moreover, when I try to stretch my right calf, i don't feel it nearly as much as my left calf. I was wondering if you could give me insight on my specific issue and what exercises you believe I should be doing. When I do the shortening exercises I can breathe much better but I am feeling my abductor hallucis tightening up again. Should I be focusing on loosening this muscle or should I continue strengthening it. Thank you in advance for the extremely helpful videos. I would greatly appreciate any sort of response. 🙏
