I’m pretty sure Ben’s “except when the mother’s life is at risk” caveat is based on his interpretation of the principle of pikuach nefesh, which is the halakhic (Jewish legal) principle that says preserving life ALWAYS overrides any other religious law. What makes his position especially bizarre to me, though, is that even literal hasidim are more liberal than Ben on this issue - when the mother’s life is at any level of risk, abortion is not only allowed but is specifically commanded and regarded as a morally good act. Anyone authentically deriving their positions from Jewish law, as opposed to using their religiosity as a post-hoc justification to hold their far-right beliefs even when they’re demonstrably false, would not be talking about abortion the way Ben does.

If I remember correctly, Jordan Peterson was asked about abortion, and he said that abortion was a symptom, not the cause, and the west needs to fix the current state of relationships. Be it education, access, or other actions. It was during his Biblical lectures and seemed fair. Even if he is against it, being a psychologist is not about imposing him on others but for others to be a better them. Like his assertiveness training, he cites a female lawyer helping her get more compensation to reflect her 20 years of experience.

So I already moved on from Jordan. He should have stayed in Psychology and Self Help as he says he helped many in his practice, his biblical lecture where he psychoanalyzed the Bible.

When my wife was pregnant the increase of her estrogen levels flared up malignancies in her breast making them metastasize to her spine and lymph nodes which almost killed her. We were almost at the point where we would have had to choose between her or the baby. Removing abortions takes away this choice which is surprisingly frequent for a variety of different reasons. I cant imagine a reality where that option is taken away from people. Why are these white men talking about pregnancy like it's a simple straight forward procedure? It would be interesting to see the rate of postnatal depression among women in places which have outlawed abortion in contrast with places that allow it. My guess is forcing an SA victim to carry to full term is psychologically damaging.

Ugh quit comparing people to inanimate objects. 🙄 Also, I'd feel a lot better morally if a woman gets an abortion than if a woman has that baby and leaves it in a dumpster. Or worse, beats, abuses, or neglects said child. A man shouldn't legally be able to walk away from a child or have the option to not take care of it. Everyone gets a DNA test at birth where your parents are confirmed and then both parents have to care for physically and financially for that child until adult hood. Madness!

So she went to the local doctor and was like “hey if you do not get rid of my pregnancy, I will unalive myself” and held up a knife to her wrist. She didn’t want her or the fetus to live through abuse by the hands of her ex husband. The doctor knew she was dead serious and did the abortion for her and apparently she was able to walk away from her marriage and all that safely. His allegory made literally 0 sense. Do conservatives really believe that people are being forced to abort their babies? I seriously can’t figure out his reasoning, did he only skim through the hypothetical and then printed it out? I reckon that’s the only explanation, that was his first time actually reading through it 🙃

I know I’m a dork for saying this but it bothers me that people still think you have to shake a Polaroid. With the peel apart Polaroid film called pack film the print comes out wet so yo need to shake it to dry it or rather that’s why some people would do that. With the type of film that spits out of the front of the camera there is a plastic cover over the print so there is no need to shake it. Thank you for subscribing to Polaroid facts.

Scalia was famous for carrying a Frankenstein's monster of a dictionary with various definitions of words that would support his position at any given time. So yes, textualism/originalism is fake.

He literally said "BEFORE THEY BREATHE LIFE..." Isn't that an admission that fetuses are not alive?

How do these psychos even live with themselves ? They know exactly what they are doing and how to lie to people and make then angry.
