No. We just run it for an hour or two at the time. Unless it's a really heavy feeding crop like corn or onions -- for those we'll run it overnight sometimes.

Another great video and information. Is there a chart someplace that tells you how ften and how long to water different vegetables? Thank You.
@gardeningwithhoss4 жыл бұрын
We don't have a chart. The amount of water can vary greatly depending on conditions.

With the drip method, how do you know when you put down enough water ?

You can see the wet soil around the plants from the tape watering.

How do you dig out the drip tape after the crops have been harvested?
@gardeningwithhoss3 жыл бұрын
you disconnect the row ends and pull it out. You can reuse it during the same growing season.

I am a fan of the Hoss line-up of garden equipment. Its a re-introduction of the quality tools that my grandaddy purchased. I recently ordered the dedicated garden seeder for my fall garden. I plan to order one of the the drip tape kits to be installed before next planting.

Thanks Harvey. Glad you're a fan. The drip tape is definitely a game-changer.

What do you do with your drip tape at the end of season? Is it reusable?
@gardeningwithhoss8 жыл бұрын
+james white We use an 8 mil thickness tape which lasts for one year. We don't need it to last any longer because our row spacing will change with crop rotation from season to season. After a year, we pull it up and throw it away. They do make a 15 mil thickness that is supposed to last for 5 years, which would work well for perennials like asparagus or berries.

What's the brand you use? Trying to find it online. And what size?
@gardeningwithhoss9 жыл бұрын
+Travis Ellis the drip tape is used in this video is the Ro-Drip Tape (5 mil) made by Rivulis. We've used other brands as well that work just fine. There's no particular brand that we would recommend over another. We buy ours from a local irrigation supply store, but there are plenty of online irrigation supply retailers as well.

I've always used The Drip Store but was told by them you should never bury drip tape... ????????????
@gardeningwithhoss9 жыл бұрын
+Rick Chambers Did they say why they don't recommend burying it? We've always buried ours and never had any issues.

Can you use this method to plant and irrigate pastures for horses?
@gardeningwithhoss7 жыл бұрын
It wouldn't be feasible for irrigating a pasture. It's more suitable for crops grown in rows.
