Please remove the music layer on this video.........it highly detracts from this wonderful video, and degrades the overall quality of the work. I just want to hear his voice, and nothing else.

I thought this was interesting, but for me the music was very distracting and served no purpose.

I also thought that the video was interesting enough without the distracting terrible "music".

I can't imagine the level of stress that must go in jobs like this one where you're handling not only invaluable art, but also a piece of history.

This painting was acquired in Spain in 1976 soon after Franco died. There was a rather difficult political situation then, so the Spanish Ministry of Culture was not quick enough to prevent this painting from leaving Spain, as it has done at present with another painting by Caravaggio about to be auctioned. It would be interesting to know how all the many excellent pieces this Museum shows, especially archaeological ones, were acquired... or just taken.

St. Andrew wasnt just a saint or martyr, he was an Apostle.

Well, all Apostles are saints (except Judas). Not all Apostles are martyrs (St. John the Evangelist). Usually, we refer to a saint by their highest title, in this case, Apostle.

I guess it's OK. In get a little nervous watching people use Willard's batter medium. Spread the batter CAREFULLY, and make sure not to use cadmiums, as they cause decay. Also, try urine alkaloids as a catalyst. Mix the batter CAREFULLY into the dip and make sure you whisk thoroughly. The dip has a high content of vitriolic amyloid precursor proteins. Stir CAREFULLY. That's all I can say. Enjoy! God Bless!

Caravaggio was a great painter but he got the shape of the cross wrong. St Andrew was crucified on an X shaped cross.

Cleveland has a great museum , a bit over the top for the city . so few to see the art . fine works of art at a world class level . i live here there was knocked over the depth of the art there . i am nothing of a art fan . but read a lot , i knew of most of the painting . if the reach of fame of these works hit my cave . they must be some of greater works of man

When one must do SO much "restoration," would it not be better to simply leave the original as it is and use a digital reconstruction, mounted full size, next to the original??
@emilysarah8312
@emilysarah8312 6 жыл бұрын
Ramey Zamora Majority of the time, the beauty of a painting is that is it a painting. Lifelike but only paint applied by brushes. If a paintine were to be digitly retouched and printed out, it would loose its value because it was created (physically) by a printer, a machine. The original art is painted by hand and a digitally touched version would not be reparing the origional. The whole point of art restorating is to repair the origional to how it looked when it was painted. Even if it would be easier, digitally re touching the painting and putting them side by side could be considered counter productive. 'Here, look at what some artist created, this is what it looked like. But look at what it is now, damaged, creased, muted.' Versus 'Hey look at what some artist created. Isn't it just amazing?' I hope that makes sense. It probably doesn't.

When they restore a painting it is done in such a way as to be non-destructive. In other words, its added as layers that can also easily be removed. This is done so that future generations might be able to fix things with superior techniques and technology. So the original is left alone (unaltered).
