Hi Darren, I have a 45D Powerspark tuned by A.C. Really happy to see that with you we now have a “local” tuner. I am in Florida so not exactly local but at least in the U.S. Also using an HIF 44 prepared by A.C. These are on a 1275 Bugeye that I am restoring for my son. Lin

Hi Darren, been enjoying your distributor videos and it has helped me learn and progress my restoration of a lotus twin cam which has an odd Lucas distributor - 25D but a body for clockwise rotor while it needs to go anticlockwise. The internals are correct for anticlockwise and there is no shaft wear at all so it is rebuildable without vacuum advance which is what I was planning to do if I replace the plate with a 23D one or lock it up. However, your praise for power spark has made me wonder if that would be a better route. I would need to have it regraphed to suit my cams etc… so was wondering if this is easily done on them (im in Australia and know people with the sun machine) and if there are springs available to do it. Would be a good topic for a video for your channel too.

Hi, i will be taking both of these apart for Part 2. Will be showing how to check the total advance as well. I buy lengths of different spring sizes and cut/bend them to the size needed when recurving. Only way to know what spring you need is by testing it on a dizzy machine. I have built a custom dizzy machine which lets me easily change the springs. The old Sun units require the entire assembled dizzy to work while my setup only needs the inner shaft. Powerspark is a cheap Chinese knock off. Fix your original one or find a good used 25D unit.

There are no good used 25D units. The shaft wear alone make them no good. Plus the curve on an original 25D needs to be adjusted to match the engine it is going on. The powerspark units are cheap but they can be tuned and have high power modules. High power module = more spark energy. No one else has a high power option for the A series motor.
