Nice to see an authentic experienced pair which gives honest tips to the community and not celebrating Van Life IG glamour for its own purpose. Best tip to beginners might be to test the camping lifestyle by renting a camper van like for at least 2 weeks or a month first instead of jumping into it all of the sudden. Wish good journeys and a soft winter season! Greetings from Germany

I would love to know the legality of registering your driving licence, log book, insurance, bank account, HMRC, etc etc at an address you don’t actually live at. Questions? For example if the person who is allowing you to use their address is a single occupant, does that invalidate their single person council tax discount? If you go through a camera speed trap, and you are unaware, unbeknownst to you, fine gets sent to the person who’s letting you use their address? Same for parking fines? Apologies for being picky but I can’t be the only one wondering about this, and what if you don’t have a friend or family member you can ask. Safe travels.
@Mymail-z1x2 ай бұрын
so you recon homeless people on the street should all be arrested because they can't afford the address?
@abeldiscounts15752 ай бұрын
lets answer that for you: 1: Post office provide a free service called Post Restante. They will send your mail to a nearby post office at no charge 2: Insurance, there are a number of insurers who specialise in this and are often cheaper as your in you van. 3. DVLA give them your Post Restante details. The £1000 fine is for not updating your correct details, using a Post Restante address means you are reachable by Mail to receive things such as speeding tickets new licenses vehicle documents. I’ve already checked with DVLA regarding this. HMRC, again use the post office service, majority of the time HMRC will contact you by email. Banking majority of the time its done on your phone and who has paper statements🤷🏽 Where there’s a problem, there’s a solution
@UrbanVanlife2 ай бұрын
Emma here, I can see a couple of people have already responded to your question but I would like to also answer, firstly the above situation you have written out doesn’t apply to us, but for someone who it does apply to, if they are registered at a single persons home and it has an effect on their council tax etc surely that person would offer to help out with the bills? And if they are helping out with bills etc would they not be contributing to said household ? Just my own thoughts on this as I would not want to put another person in that position, we do not rely on anyone else for this and have found other ways for our legal documents which are legal and not involving anyone else financially, as already stated by other people there are other ways that aren’t conventional for people without bricks and mortar to do this the correct way! And in no way am I having a go at your for your question but genuinely can’t answer other than to give my thoughts on it
@stephenbland74612 ай бұрын
@@UrbanVanlife my question was a general one regarding the legal situation of a person using a residential address that they don’t actually live at, regardless of whether they contribute financially to the property, and not specifically directed at your situation. . And to the other response, at no time did I suggest that homeless people should be arrested because ‘they can’t afford the address’, whatever that means.
@UrbanVanlife2 ай бұрын
I understand your question but we can’t answer a question that doesn’t apply to us so wouldn’t know what the answer was, and that’s why I gave my thoughts on it, but if someone is paying for a bill at someone’s house and contributing why would they not have a right to have their documents sent there? I know people who work away 11 months out of the year and still have all their documents at their parents house so in theory would those legal issues you raised not also apply to them as they don’t actually live at their parents house and they do not contribute financially and only come back to England for holidays to see family.

I am not handy like Neal but being in touch with gadgets I don't need solar panels even though I do have two but they where there before the GIANT simple game changer in electricity. Like Neal said you save money not living in a house. I am a big fan of EcoFlow lots pf people say there is better out there but that is choice. All my Van runs on is EcoFlow and LPG I could just live on EcoFlow. Few years back I paid £3600 for the EcoFlow Delta (3600W) Recently EcoFlow brought out the massive game changer Alternator. @UrbanVanlife17 күн бұрын
There are loads of different things you can do to combat damp, you will always get condensation unless the temperature outside your van/motorhome is the exact same as the inside, also humans realise something like a litre of water daily on average when breathing also always going to get moisture. Some people use dehumidifier’s, there are the bags you can buy cheap, some people use clean cat litter in socks, others use karcher window vacs, also having windows open helps with ventilation even just a small bit.

Hi guy's 👍🏻 a tip for your subscribers and maybe you 👍🏻. We bought the back end of an argos lorry 🤣 8 foot wide 10 feet high and 36 foot long all water tight £900, much, much cheaper than a shipping container, painted it and we now keep it on an industrial est £400 a year again much cheaper than self storage. We have racked half out for our tools, clothes etc from our old house and the other half both Beck and I have a work station on one side and settee on the other 🤣 it's like a little flat 🤣. Also as it's an industrial estate so nobody bats an eye when we go there to service our van (stuff everywhere 🤣) or work on the van and stop overnight. We also have the option of selling the trailor if we ever went back to a house (not happening 🤣👍🏻). The trailor has now paid for itself over the last 3 year's on what we have saved on self storage as at the very beginning of van life we to had a self storage unit at £120 a month 🤮 and it wasn't as big as our trailor . We hope this helps anyone out 👍🏻, a great video 👏👏👏👏👍🏻 safe travels sending love, peace and good energy ❤️🙏🏻

We had 2 cars at time plus the motor home I recently sold my 15 plate minibus and with some cash and getting having being in an accident the little car was wrote off so now we have a main car which is only 5 years old plus motor home this was the only way it was possible to keep the running of the motor home costs with the hab checks yearly,servicing costs to both vehicles and wear and tear but we love our mollie and wouldn’t have it any other way we love getting out in her but it’s far from cheap this year was can belt water pump , service new break pads and full set of tyres as there was cracking quite bad on the walls of the tyres wasn’t until I read the year of manufacture they had been on there since new in 2015 so was well over due. But all these costs are not cheap new set of tyres was £800 admittedly we went for better tyres not budget tyres but wanted half decent ones keep up good work guys 👍🏽

I seem to have quite a lot of issues with Revolut washing machines, though I go onto the app and get the phone number and they give me a full refund if my washing is not as I expected to be when I go to Portugal to be on my land, I find it where are use the washing machines out there. They are so much cleaner and they seem to be a lot cheaper as well. Problem with Van Life is finding somewhere where I can let my dogs run free or even on the lead. I like a nice big grass area as my dogs need a lot of exercise, but unfortunately a couple of places that I used to use now have height barriers and it really gets to me yes 100% go with your gut instinct. If you want to park anywhere you want for as long as you want, there are unscrupulous individuals that alter their number plates. An F becomes an E for example. An anonymous motor cycle journalist removed his number plate altogether and rode undetected for 18 months. Failure to display is not an endorsable offence. “Sorry it must have fallen off officer.” Or, my favourite. “I’m glad you stopped me officer, it gives me opportunity to report the theft of my number plate.”

Loving the tips. I’ve had a dinky travel kettle for about 20 years and it’s great but now it only fills one and a half of our Yeti cups 😂 love the light so versatile. If you park sensibly and don’t push your luck then you shouldn’t get a knock. If it doesn’t feel right you just move simples. Loving the vlogs they proper make me belly laugh.

Thank you so much, a lot of parking up is down to common sense and trusting your gut!

I always thought emptying the chem toilet would be the biggest issue but actually very easy. every town has a public loo somewhere! my biggest problem is always getting fresh water without using campsites. I long for a more comprehensive app for public taps in the UK as they always include water fountains which are as much use as a chocolate fireguard. you drive for ages and find a drinking water fountain Aarrrggghhh!

Great video! I'd say though that 'knock' is not out of the ordinary. We actually got a knock like on our 2nd day on our 2nd trip! I mean, the Cops where ok / fine with us.... but they stated we were allowed to hang around, but could not sleep in the vehicule. In the end, If you go somewhere, make sure you know the rules about that city / area.
@UrbanVanlifeАй бұрын
Great advise at the end there, everyone should do some research into where they are going and what the rules are!!

Hello we truly full time, sold up years ago. A few things great tap connector. There are many outlets now for Lpg outlets. Obviously many more in Europe. As for true fulltime insurance, the only company that supplies this is Comfort insurance. They will pay up if a claim is made. We have refillable gas plus 700 watts of solar, 2x 135 amps of lithium batteries and a b to b. A victron 1600 watt inverter /charger.
@UrbanVanlife2 ай бұрын
700 watts of solar 😀 we are thinking of changing our panels out as there are better ones on the market since we fitted ours! On the lpg we had had a few places we used to go to stop selling it and when we where down south there was a similar issue but we did find somewhere eventually, but we have heard there’s more in Europe can’t wait to get over there and explore!

IG and KZbin make vanlife look so luxurious and fun, and that's not always the case. It's also what state or country you live that also makes a difference too, U.S. doesn't have an outdoor laundry service, that is interesting to see.
@UrbanVanlife2 ай бұрын
It’s not all glamour and like everything you have good days and bad days and things pop up that are unexpected, what do you have over in the states is it just laundromat’s? And yes different states/country’s can make vanlife very different!!
@alanhat525218 күн бұрын
10:28 you are most definitely *_not_* working your van to the maximum! You might be fully loaded but you're not thrashing the daylights out of it! These vans are designed for 100, maybe 200 miles every day, engine stop & start 50, maybe 70 times, for 5, 6, sometimes 7 days a week, every week (sometimes for each of 2 or 3 drivers) & that means the throttle has 2 positions - off or mashed into the floor, brakes similar, the gearbox crashed through the gears, steering hard enough to tilt the van 20° with the load smashing against the walls! They're not all driven like that but it's what they're built to cope with, I doubt you use full throttle once on every journey & certainly not all the way from it's morning cold start till it's stopped for the night.

Really insightful - every time we go away for more than a few week I always get into the flow of it and fancy doing a long stint in the van, definitely one we’re considering for the future, really appreciate the insight as a couple of things there I wouldn’t have thought of. Fancy doing a van build from scratch before longer term as modding a manufactured van is ok, but still have the desire to do my own like you guys have done, imaging it gives a real sense of achievement. All the very best, David 👍
@UrbanVanlife2 ай бұрын
Correct there is a sense of achievement when you stand back and look at the work you have put in, and there are also days where you sit somewhere pretty with a cuppa and realise it was worth the hard work too, and that you just know it’s where you are supposed to be right now! We know not everyone is confident in build skills but for us it has been the right path! And even for people’s who aren’t full time we would encourage just getting out more and seeing what the world has to offer!

We considered the Van life earlier this year, the plan was to sell the bungalow and take off, we were just about to pull the trigger and take the plunge and someone told us it wasn't safe because we would be at risk of ginger scousers breaking into the Van during the night.

I’ve had to chuckle at myself watching from the U.S. wondering why I’m watching a van life video focusing on across the pond. Within 10 minutes, I had toggled over to Amazon to order the tap adapter and the chalk pens. However, the public washer and dryers baffled me. They look like they’re on the side of the road. Can you explain?
@UrbanVanlife2 ай бұрын
Some of them are on the side of the road and some are at supermarkets, service stations and garage’s (gas stations) they are handy for if you need wash and dry on the go, but not always looked after properly so have to check they are working, not full of animal hairs etc
