Classic Tetris Monthly is a series of monthly #Nintendo #Tetris tournaments, started by founding mother fridaywitch in December 2017, and resurrected by vandweller in October 2018. Nowadays, it's become the largest NES Tetris #Tournament expanding to seven events: The Masters Event, the Challengers Circuit, the Futures Circuit, the Hopefuls Circuit, the Community Tournament, Tetris Deathmatch and Monday Night Chasedown!

Is there a reason the commentators only look at score when they announce someone is in the lead? It seems like if someone is a Tetris ahead but 15 lines ahead they would actually be behind right?

I"m not going to thoroughly review this particular video. But in general I hear them talking about someone having the "pace advantage" or being ahead (or back) x number of lines. (@3:29) But not for every score call. Post29 play is also odd: Pacing post 29 matters now that there is a level 39 superkill screen, but at the same time they can top out in an instant, so being ahead is very important, regardless of lines.
