The paper industry plays a vital role in our society, being involved in a wide range of applications from printing newspapers and books to the production of packaging and paper products. However, paper industry can have a significant impact on the environment: paper production has historically been associated with deforestation, causing a loss of biodiversity and contributing to climate change. Paper production requires significant amounts of water, both for the cultivation process of raw materials and for the actual production of paper. Finally, paper production processes can generate greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to climate change.
Today, awareness of the challenges and opportunities for improvement is growing significantly, moving towards the adoption of innovative sustainable practices. Many companies are seeking to mitigate the impact of this industry through more sustainable practices, such as the use of sustainable pulp sources, such as hemp, to implement more environmentally efficient technologies.
This event is organized by the HempCluB project in collaboration with the RuralBioUp project with the aim of introducing a theoretical background and examples of innovation on the use of hemp in the paper industry as a sustainable and innovative solution that can mitigate environmental impact and promote the diversification of pulp sources.
