Erin is really a piece of work. In one of their Carly & Erin vlog style videos she talked about how the colors on the seams of tubes of toothpaste indicated if they contained toxic ingredients, which is so weird? Just read the ingredients? Anyway it was really dumb and she switched toothpaste because of it, who cares if Carly bought some different tampons.

when Mike talked about people wanting to feel like there is order in the world it made me think of the just-world hypothesis. We learned about it in sociology but it's about how people want to believe the world is fair and just so good people get rewarded and bad people get punished. we want to believe that the world is just and consequently will sometimes look for ways to rationalize injustices

The issue with Y2k was the fact that a lot of software at the time only looked at the last 2 digits of the year instead of all of the four digits. For example July 4th 1999 was seen as 07/04/99. So when the year 2000 rolled around there was worry that the year 2000 could also be interpreted at 1900 or even 3000 which would make software go crazy and not work properly. There was a lot of software updates that were done world wide to make sure that nothing would mess up.

What pisses me off is that it's regarded as a hoax or a conspiracy theory because nothing happened. The fact that nothing happened is actually a tremendous victory of IT groups, who worked their butts off for months to get critical systems patched and outdated systems replaced so that the feared systemic failures didn't happen.

Some years prior to the legalization of marijuana, there was a CT regarding a strain of marijuana that grew in the sewers underneath Manhattan. Because it did not get sunlight, it was an albino strain, extremely potent because of all the drugs flushed down the toilets during police raids. Y2k was an issue but a lot of programmers worked hard to fix the codes. It did cause some issues in codes but for the most part, programmers were able to handle the issue before 2000 came so there werent many problems. My parents were software developers at the time and always say they weren’t worried about y2k because they (and all other developers) worked so hard to fix all the code leading into the new year.

In regards to the Qanon topic. My father is married to a woman who is deep into it…she has a bumper sticker on her car for it. I don’t speak to her ..and my dad and I have always had a dicey relationship ..but I try to talk sense into him. It’s hard because it usually leads to arguments but I try to stick it out so he has some sane people around him. Some of the things he says though …it gets very hard to want to keep communicating with him. It’s very very sad.

The...camera was on an extending arm on the landing craft, it's not that much more complicated than a deck umbrella...landing the craft safely was magnitudes more complicated than getting a camera on a boom extended to catch the shot of Armstrong exiting it. And sure...sure, a government might fake going to the moon...but they wouldn't then do it ELEVEN MORE TIMES! And yeah, broadcasting a signal isn't hard, we had broadcast tv back then and the biggest limiting factor on broadcasting television signals from a tv tower is line of sight due to the curvature of the earth...which isn't an issue shooting a signal through the vacuum of space from the moon to the earth. As to why we haven't gone back? Because going in the first place was about developing ballistic missile technology for launching nuclear warheads at Russia. We developed them and it was expensive to go up there so we lost interest in spending all that money for no material gain. Now we go back with remote landers that can stay longer and are easier to get there and get back.

NASA is preparing to return to the moon with the Artemis project. The first Artemis rocket will launch to go to the moon on Aug 29 but it won’t have any passengers on board, however, soon there will be! This Artemis project will also hopefully help send the first people to Mars!

The conspiracy about snow days reminds me of living in Florida with yearly hurricanes. The news hypes up the severity, and the grocery stores’ shelves are practically empty and gas stations are flooded with everyone filling up their cars with gas. In some cases precautions were definitely necessary, but there sure has been many hurricanes that have barely my town specifically, when days prior their saying it predicted CAT 5! I wouldn’t even say it’s a conspiracy, but a way to be precautious, but more importantly a way to make more moneyyysss
