Another fun thing about rogue waves, One of the greatest ships ever built, the RMS Queen Mary (still preserved today in Long Beach CA) was hit by a colossal 92 foot rogue wave on her side whilst carrying over 10’000 troops in WW2. The ship tipped over a ridiculous 52 degrees with soldiers holding onto walls that were now the ceiling, and almost became the worst disaster at sea in history. There's actually historic records of a Carthaginian explorer named Hanno the Navigator who did a naval expedition along the coast of West Africa in the fifth century BC, where he encountered vast expanses of desert and quite possibly the erupting Mount Cameroon (which they named Chariot of the Gods) reaching the Gulf of Guinea. I listen to a podcast about them missing Japanese. They had the family of one of the missing girls who was kidnapped by these North Korean spies.
