As someone who used to work in a warehouse I can confirm the cheaper brands are just the name brand that got damaged in productions bought out at a cheaper price sold cheaper by these companies. I was also shocked af when I found it out , growing up poor people made fun of everything down to your lunches if you didn’t have name brand. So finding out it was the same, and all along the bullies were bullying me over nothing essentially, was crazy to me lol.

Hey Shane! I work in a vision center selling glasses and I just wanted to spread some info to y’all: almost all of the name brand glasses you buy are made in knockoff factories. For example, Ray Ban is an extremely popular brand that people come in looking for. However, unless it says that it is made in Italy, it is a knockoff. We have like two pairs that day they’re made in Italy and others from China, Taiwan, etc. next time you go to a place that sells glasses, look at where it was made! Authentic glasses will all be made in one place. If you have Ray Bans that are made in Italy, congrats, but they hardly sell those now!
@emiriidesu

Woah! But they’re allowed to put the branding on the knockoffs? That’s wild haha
@rosey45309
@rosey45309 Жыл бұрын
@@emiriidesu they absolutely are! People buy it for the brand label, not the quality. I’ve had a mom come in saying she saved up the last four paychecks to get her son a Ray Ban frame but the ones he liked were all knockoffs with the Ray Ban logo on it. I told her not to waste her money and the boy happily agreed to get less expensive frames that were (honestly) probably better quality

I’m a barista and during our barista course they told us during our training that brands get tea from the same batch at the same machines. And the reason some brands are higher quality is because they get the good whole leaves and the cheaper companies get the damaged leaves. If you want to know if your tea is “good” is to see if there’s any specs of tea leaves in the bottom of your cup at the end of brewing. If there’s specs it means it’s “bad”
@vickeegee9905

I was thinking this while watching. They can make it at the same manufacture building but be making them different. A recall would require anything made in the same building/ or using the same machines to be recalled as well… doesn’t mean it’s all identically made and has same quality. Thank you for your anecdote.
@JaccsieB
@JaccsieB Жыл бұрын

Shane needs to do a deep dive into the beauty industry because I know they do this too. I had a sea salt spray from the brand Julep a few years back that was the exact same thing, ingredient by ingredient as a product by Mario Tricoci. It was only by chance that I had both products at the same time due to subscription boxes. I reached out to both brands for an explanation and got crickets.

If you notice the boxes in the cereal aisle. General Mills makes their box just a bit larger (even though the actual product might be less than the generic version) it plays with the consumers eyes. I’ve always felt this was just common sense. Who else would have the capacity to produce the off brand stuff in adequate quantities? Obviously only the big brands themselves.

This isn't common sense. Off brand wasn't always made by the same company as the "on brand" product, they used to all be dupes by independent companies, and boy could you tell the difference.

Growing up poor can be really subjective and it varies. It can mean not eating some days because you can’t afford food, it can mean living on the streets, or it can even mean living in a house and being able to afford only store-brand food items and not enjoying other mundane things. Maybe he did grow up poor but not how we generally think of “growing up poor”.

I also noticed that there is no internet connection in shops. It's like that in almost every big store. I think this is done very consciously, not just to avoid distractions from shopping, but to prevent you from comparing prices online. This is something that I like to do often when I'm considering buying certain products in the store. I always try to connect to the internet to find out if I can get a product cheaper on Amazon etc. but in most cases, I can forget about it in the shops because you are completely cut off from the internet.
