Karl Roszko LOL usually when I’m dealing with tennis (balance, weight, and inertia) I use the metric system. The rest of the time it is inches, feet, yards, etc. for instance if I’m measuring out string it is about 36 feet or 16 racket lengths, not 11 meters. Or the short side is 9 feet or 4 racket lengths not 2.75 meters.

I think the most important point in stringing is to make a racket playable. When using CP on polys, if you don’t clamp off fast enough - it just “sucks” the life out of the string (the string looses it’s elasticity). It’s important to get the right balance between how much tension a string can lose after the stringing is done vs how much elasticity is actually left in the string. Just getting the tension right doesn’t mean the racket will be playable. Yes, it will hold the tension longer but at the expense of lack of string playability. Hope that makes sense
@Mr10sStringer2 жыл бұрын
Makes sense to me but with an eCP you could also lower the tension.

That is a Gamma 6004 6 point self centering stringer. Just to make sure you understand what that is there are two supports inside the frame at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions. There are also 4 supports on the outside of the frame so support the frame for a total of 6 points. The self centering turntable has one adjust for both the inside supports so the frame remains centered on the turntable equalizing tensions and pressure on the top and bottom of the frame while stringing. If you have been using a single pull method and like it by all means do not change. This method if for those times when you have new customers that normally have their racket strung on a CP machine and you want to duplicate the feel of a CP. Irvin

great video! If I've been using a crank stringer for a couple years now without using this method, would I receive any benefit from using this method for my own racquets? Stringing the same racquets is about consistency, and since I'm used to what I've been stringing at the past couple years I think I should stick with it.

I wonder when you release the clamp holding tension (next to be moved). Do you: 1.Pull tension, 2.Release the clamp that are next to be moved, 3.Repull tension, 4.Then clamp off? Or would you recommend: 1.Pull tension, 2.Wait X sec, 3.Repull tension, 4.Release clamp, 5.Then clamp off?
@Mr10sStringer3 жыл бұрын
Never release a clamp that is holding tension. For clamping operation pull tension clamp the string and lock the base if you’re using fixed clamps. To remove the clamp pull tension on a string release the clamp base on the string closest to the tensioner, and then release the clamp. No need to wait x seconds.
@tobiasjohansson39343 жыл бұрын
@@Mr10sStringer Thanks for your reply, really nice of you to take the time. Yes, I know you should not release the clamp holding tension without pulling tension before. What I did wonder was if you for example have done 50% of your mains, and both clamps are in use holding tension. When do you re-pull/Stretch for the Second time (to imitate a constant pull), Before or After you released the clamp closest the tension head?
@Mr10sStringer3 жыл бұрын
@@tobiasjohansson3934 I would not pull another string until I’m finished with the previous string. A CP will constantly pull on a string for as long as you apply tension. As the string relaxes the CP pulls more. On a LO machine you still have a constant pull even after LO it just never stretches the string any farther. So I have tensioned the 4 center mains on each side and ready for the 5th. Pull tension on the 5th and after lockout run in the 5th on the other side. In the few seconds it takes you to run in that string the string under tension has relaxed enough and can be pulled again. Then the string again and move the clamp.

Great subject for discussion. What machine are you using? It looks much more precise than mine. The best crank machine I have seen is the Prince Neos 1500 but you seem to have six point mounting. Is that a machine you recommend? Thanks, Paul.

If you have glilde bars do the same. Double pull with a lockout to produce the same result as a CP. If you like the feel you have now though with your lockout don't change.
@bowsershark2 жыл бұрын
Is this called pre stretching the string? Masterful tip. Thanks
@Mr10sStringer2 жыл бұрын
No. There are 2 types of pre stretch, manual and machine prestretch. To manually pre stretch you pull manually on both ends of the string before you start stringing a racket. Some eCP machine have a pre stretch feature of 5-20% pre stretch. In this more if you set your tension to 60 and pre stretch to 5%, the machine will pull to 63 lbs then relax a little then go back up to 60. Some machine work differently but that’s the jest of it.

Actually you are correct. But each time you pull the stretch gets to be less and less. So you will not get much more than 3 mm

So, I noticed that you have the crank on the outside of the stringer (facing away from you). What do you think the benefit is of that or do you just find that it is personal preference?
@Mr10sStringer7 жыл бұрын
String It Like You Mean It just personal preference. With that machine you can put the crank on either side. I normally used a Wise Tensionhead. I have since sold both and have a Banolat Star 5 now.
@StephanBerenschot2 жыл бұрын
issnt this just a form of prestetching? Once you set the clamp and move to next string still lose tension
@Mr10sStringer2 жыл бұрын
It’s not like prestretch ing. A lock will ‘lockout’ immediately when the string reaches reference tension. A constant pull machine will pull even after tension is reached. All this method allows for is more pulling on the lockout. Yes any type machine will result in tension loss after you clamp the string.

If I want to pull once as same pound compare to Constant pull,could I add more pounds on crank locout machine?Thanks
@Mr10sStringer5 жыл бұрын
Leo Leo yes The USRSA recommends you add 5-10% to get in the vicinity. That will depend on the string and how fast you crank the LO. Different strings stretch at different rates, so I’d use the USRSA for ease of use. If you crank fast use 10% slow then 5%.

What I was trying to do with this video is show how you can get the same result from a LO stringer to match that of a constant pull. If you string for someone else that usually has their racket strung at 60 on a constant pull to match that you should double pull at 60. If you like your racket strung at 60 on a LO by all means do not change. Irvin
