It's weird how listening to the dialogue in a film, instead of talking over all of it... allows you to understand what's going on. I guess that's one of those little life hacks we could all benefit from.

Yeah and the Devil wanted to win the bet against the God and win that way, by proving that the humans aren't worthy of God's love. His son wanted to take that opportunity away from him because the son didn't want to wait that long. That is why Lucifer sent him back to hell, son tried to interfere with his father's game.

After she exploded out of the tub, she was saying how she always knew, in regard to how she was able to know who to shoot and when to shoot, who was bad, who was good. That's basically what she was talking about when she was in confession at the beginning of the film, when she was still unbelieving/denying her gift. Even though she hadn't embraced her gift, she was still had it and was using it on subconscious level.

I once died for about 2 minutes. I was put into a temporay medicallily indused coma to releave swelling on my brain. I regained conciousness a week later after the swelling hade gone and they woke me up. I can officially say that It felt like I had been asleep for thousands of years. The hit and run that caused the skull frature and brain swelling and left me for dead also left me without many memories. So what happened in that sleep I can not remember. But I do know that I was in there for a lot longer than 1 week. My elderly mother and my young son were at my hospital bed side when they woke me up. Amnesia isn't like in the movies or TV shows. I recognised my Mom and Son. I knew their names. But I didn't know how I knew them. It had been so long since I had seen them.

I LOVE Tilda Swinton’s portrayal of Gabriel. Somehow, making angels androgynous made the character more real to me. I remember finding out she’s from an ancient noble Scottish family who can trace their direct lineage at least 800 years, and thinking, “ yeah, that sounds about right for her.”

I love that the hero's big move is basically tattling on the bad guy by telling his dad 😂 Easily one of my favorite Keanu movies. My favorite moment is when he flips Lucifer the bird as he's ascending to heaven. Oh, and Bathazar, the demon who Constantine pretends to read last rites to, is played by Gavin Rossdale. He's the lead singer of the English grunge band Bush, who had a few hits back in the 90's, the most popular probably being "Glycerine."

One of the great depictions of Lucifer. Amazing for the entire time he was on screen. This is how you depict nigh-omnipotent characters. Have them defeated by logic that makes sense with-in the lore. Lu, summoned by Constantine through a sin. Lu, stopped from taking Constantine, due to sacrifice. Lu, takes out the cancer+tar because Constantine is going to F up again. At no point was Lu or his son under any threat from Constantine.

It's still mind-boggling to me that, for their big McGuffin, they used the Holy Lance of the Imperial Regalia of the Holy Roman Empire with its VERY distinctive look, and said nobody knows where it is. This Constantine(2005) film is not that much like the comic books. The TV show Constantine(2014) is a lot more direct version from the comic books.
@legionairebАй бұрын
0:30 - The main reason this movie has a low rating is because this version of Constantine diverges significantly from the source material. John Constantine is actually a DC character. If Superman is the leader of the regular DC heroes, Constantine is the leader of the DC supernatural superheroes. Like I said, this movie gets a lot of hate for not being comic-accurate, but it definitely stands well as it's own entity. 1:14 - The Nazi connection ends here, so I'll point out that the reason it exists is because Hitler is well known to have hoarded religious artifacts. The historically accepted reason is that he wanted to use his possession of them to back up his claims of being a divinely ordained ruler, but a popular belief that has inspired much fiction (Indiana Jones in particular) is that Hitler believed he could find some kind of supernatural weapon that could win him the war. Among the artifacts Hitler was rumored to have collected was the Spear of Longinus, A.K.A. the Spear of Destiny. This (as will be explained later) was the spear that pierced the side of Christ at the crucifixion (the movie paints this, not the crucifixion itself, as the cause of Jesus' death). 2:04 - DAMN, man, congrats on figuring that out!! It's such an obscure part of biblical lore to most people unless they've studied Arthurian legend. 2:47 - He's holding up various religious charms so that their shadow falls upon the possessed girl. By observing which one she reacts to, he can narrow down exactly what kind of demon he's dealing with. 9:22 - I love that it doesn't just sound like fire, it _actually_ sounds like a dragon roaring. 10:13 - The view of the Church is that God has a predetermined time for each of us to die. Committing suicide is seen as an act of direct defiance against God's will, and thus is considered a Mortal Sin. There are exceptions for persons who are declared insane and there are certain prayers and acts of contrition that can save your soul if you can say them honestly before you die, but in most cases suicides go directly to Hell. 10:52 - It's like Gabriel say: He doesn't _believe,_ he _knows._ There's a difference. 11:22 - Gabriel was the angel most associated with divine decrees. They told Mary she would give birth to Jesus and that her cousin would give birth to John the Baptist, as well as several other announcements and visitations in the bible. 11:51 - This priest is an Empath. He has a psychic awareness of people's emotions which he can pick up from them directly or from things associated with them. He was wearing that charm earlier to suppress his abilities, because the kind of things you can learn with that kind of power can draw the attention of supernatural beings and he didn't want to have to deal with that. He's now using his abilities to scan stories in the news to try to find clues that connect to the strange possession we witnessed earlier. 12:35 - Nah, that's just her apartment. She just has a crucifix hanging up. 19:22- 🎶I love Hell-A🎶 20:17 - To be clear, the demon wasn't 'in' her, but it _wanted_ her, for reasons that will soon be clear. She committed suicide to keep it from getting her (which I personally think should have given her a pass on the Hell thing). 27:13 - Remember her confession earlier when she said she always seemed to know who the bad guys were and was compelled to act on instinct? She's mumbling about how she now realizes that it was her psychic intuition that was showing her this. It's the kind of revelation that takes a few minutes to sink in. 30:20 - Just wait... 38:39 - Time to meet THE BEST depiction of Lucifer ever brought to screen. 39:30 - Guess you didn't put her whole speech together. Gabriel is trying to _free_ Mammon so that he can turn Earth into a living Hell. They were going to cut him out of Isabel using the spear. 'Lou' stopped them because he considers the Earth his domain, and he won't let anyone else take it. 40:44 - I've seen a lot of people make this mistake. They assume that Constantine _knew_ that his self-sacrifice would get him into Heaven and that it was part of his intent the whole time. If that were the case, it wouldn't have worked, because it would have been him trying to serve his own ends rather than being selfless. It's the fact that he did what he did _knowing_ he would go to Hell for it that earned him his reprieve. A lot of people miss the post-credits scene. It's understandable since this movie came out at a time when they were still rare. It doesn't add a _whole_ lot to the story, but it does wrap up one character's story with a few more questions.

Gabriel was trying to release Lucifer's son into the world with the Spear of Destiny. It would have upset the balance and unleashed hell on Earth.
