What a race the 2023 Champion Hurdle could be. To be fair, Epatante might just have given him a race, had he not made a really bad mistake at three out. It was all over at that moment.

Until today I didn't rate the horse as high as most, I thought there might be a soft spot somewhere in his game, but after seeing that, I don't think there is a horse in the world that will touch him once there is no mistakes from him jumping. Don't think honeysuckle will beat him either. Was too economical over hurdles, how quick he can jump them and see a stride approaching it is unparalleled at this moment. He hasn't put a foot wrong, and he even puts himself right at hurdles without the jockey wanting him too . He's a smart smart horse. Maybe and quite possibly the best hurdler we will see in our lifetime.

Genuinely not trying to be a dick here and this was obviously an impressive performance but did you not think previously that Constitution Hill's Supreme Novice win was too? That was a high class field and he annihilated them by 22L or more and of those in behind, Jonbon is 2 from 2 since, including the Grade 1 Top Novices' Hurdle at the Grand National meeting and a novice chase beating a 149 rated Nicholls horse by 7L the other day, Kilcruit won a novice chase the other day by 9½L at odds of 1/5f, Silent Revolution won next time out at Chepstow when turning over a 1/2fav, although he was 125/1 when beaten by Constitution Hill and Mighty Potter won the Grade 1 Champion Novice Hurdle next time out at the Punchestown Festival and in his only other race since, he won a Novice Chase at 2/5f the other week.

But he did run to at least 175 twice in his first four races 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I thought maybe the freakish win was a once off at Cheltenham but he proved today that it wasn't. And I am not afraid to put my hands up and say so. Nothing will touch it once it stays fit and well . And doesn't fall. I want to see this lad fulfil the promise he is showing of being the best hurdler ever to race. Because he's that good he could just be.

Honeysuckle will be a tough horse to beat if she holds her form at the same level as last year. Constitution Hill might end up being a beast but he hasn't won a champion hurdle yet and that's when you can compare him to legends of the past....... I wish Constitution Hill and the Henderson team the best of luck and hopefully him and honeysuckle stay fit and we get to see a champion hurdle to remember

What we have to remember here is Epatante is a, still very good, multiple Grade 1 winner and Constitution Hill put her to the sword in a matter of strides...not forgetting what he did to Jonbon who may as well be given the Arkle now. I love Honeysuckle, she's a wonderful racemare, but she's got a task on her hands with this lad. Will be interesting to see what he's got off the bridle So far though, machine. There is absolutely no doubt that Constitution Hill is a hurdler right out of the top drawer and could well be one of the best we have seen. I have gone over the form of the Sky Bet Supreme Novices Hurdle, and of those horses that finished so far behind Constitution Hill in that race, four of them went on to record six wins between them since the Cheltenham race. Jonbon (2nd) won at Aintree in April, and recently won the first chase he contested at Warwick. Kilcruit (3rd) has run twice since and won both of them, a hurdle race and a chase. Mighty Potter who was unplaced behind CH has since won the only two races he has run in. Even Silent Revolution , who was pulled up behind CH has won a small race at Chepstow. Bring On The Night (4th) ran a very close second in the Ascot Stakes on the Flat in the summer. It is usually a good indication of just how strong the form of a race is when the horses that finished behind the winner uphold the form of the race in question, and that is certainly true of the Sky Bet Supreme. Clearly, Constitution Hill is a top class hurdler and will take all the beating this season.

I always thought that racing was denied the best hurdler in my lifetime when Golden Cygnet was tragically killed on jumping the second last when cantering all over Sea Pigeon in the Scottish Champion Hurdle of 1978. Epatante, the Champion Hurdle winner of 2020 and dead-heat joint winner of last year's Fighting Fifth with Not So Sleepy was annihilated by Constitution Hill without coming off the bridle. His acceleration from jumping two out to leave these two toiling in his wake was phenomenal. I pray that he stays fit and well and also he is allowed to run on the flat because IMO he is capable of winning a group race given a little cut. That performance was beyond breathtaking.... OMG!

ITV racing guy Ed Chamberlain chastised Nicky Henderson for withdrawing Constitution Hill because of the ground and the horse's welfare and safety being of paramount importance ! Move forward a week ,the horse bolts in at the Fighting Fifth hurdle and Matt Chapman ,Mr Ed's colleague,says the horse is the best hurdler he's ever seen ! If the horse would have run in the dead ,tacky ground at Ascot last week ,who knows what injuries it may have sustained on the horrible ground . The Best Hurdler i`ve ever seen was Golden Cygnet who remarkably as a Novice was cantering all over Night Nurse, Sea Pigeon and Beacon light in the `78 scottish champion hurdle. Such a shame that he was ill fated. Let`s not get too carried away yet with Constitution Hill. He looks a potential champion but remember also Monsignor he had similar potential but injury wrecked his career. There Will be Honeysuckle and some irish contenders for him to deal with. Remember only last month Baaeed was being hailed as the 2nd coming and we know how that ended.

He's as exciting an english hurdler I can remember. Still to win 1 champion hurdle though so the Istabraq comparison can wait for a while. However, us english finally have a 2m hurdler that can compete with the irish which can only be good for the game. Remember Constitution hill ran the supreme in five seconds faster that honeysuckle . Honeysuckle beat epatante by 3 lengths in that race off level weight. This beast has just giving epatante 7plbs and a mauling. There's only one winner of the champion hurdle and it's constitution hill

With Henderson we be lucky if he even runs the thing on the day as he thinks there pets. He won the supreme when his main rival ran with the choke out and was always going fall. Dysart Dynamo. It then turned into a sprint with jonbon and as we have seen is a big chaser and better chaser than hurdler it was a great time but flattering. She just knows how to win she battles and battles if he eyeballs her and gets by her up the hill then he should get all the praise he is getting. Hasn’t done that yet though has he

@@deano1313 A mauling at Newcastle in the fighting fifth with no hill. The disrespect for this mare in the uk lead by Matt chapman is disgraceful. Hurricane fly used to have equally as good performances time after time at leopardstown and you never heard a Murmur in the uk. Most of this is because most of the best horse are trained in Ireland still. The time in the supreme as I explained to another bloke below os because dysart Dynamo ran with the choke out as second fav and fell. It turned into a sprint with Jonbon and CH has a electric turn of foot on the flat. This mare will battle and battle and he will be this special if he beats her IF. As she’s never been beaten. The lengths he beat epatante and she beat him are irrelevant she always just does what she has to do and win

@@michaelmulhall5007 I have the upmost respect for honeysuckle I think she's a special mare indeed one the best ever but all years I've watched jump racing never seen a horse like constitution hill who seems have it all . I genuinely believe this horse could be very very special, maybe best seen in my lifetime and been watching jump racing last 25 years so seen quite a lot of special horses . No doubt we will get our answers come march. I did see u asked someone who he's beat like I said earlier only marker we have is epatante . Honeysuckle beat epatante at level weight by 3 lengths , constitution hill beat epatante after making all the running and giving epatante 7lbs by 12 lengths so if that's all we have go off form wise u would be silly backing against constitution hill

Obviously Epitante needed the race today. Constitution won nothing yet, Goshen looked amazing and similar things were being said and he has turned out to be bang average. In a battle he might bottle it, lots of horses are happy to trail 2nd as they feel safe with one in front....animal instincts. Not saying thats what's gonna happen...but it could easily happen. Talent wise yes.... he's brill but he's gotta win a big race first...then a 2nd big race...then a 3rd big race before you start comparing him to greats like Honeysuckle and Istabraaq.
