I've seen a lot of great hurdlers like Faugheen and Hurricane Fly, back to the great era of Hardy Eustace and Brave Inca. Go back a bit further to the great Istabraq, Rooster Booster was a joy to watch and See You Then was top class. All of them would struggle to beat Constitution Hill but he will have to prove that a bit more. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be anything to take him on so he may have to do it on the clock. He will at least have to beat a time of 3:50 at Cheltenham and realistically get very close to a time of 3:45. I think with any help from ground conditions on the day, he will do exactly that.

@kierankenneally3377 those horses certainly gave us some great memories. It's very difficult to compare horses from different eras just like with footballers and golfers as rules and equipment changes give the advantage to this era. The clock is one guide but too many factors in play to rely fully on it. In terms of Constitutional hill he has already broken the 3.45 barrier over the champion hurdle track and trip. Only 5 horses have broken 3.50 in the past 90 or so years, Istabraq did twice but then Jezki followed by Annie Power both improved the time. Annie Power was a very good mare but I don't think any of us would have Jezki in our top 100 hurdlers of all time so unfortunately even if Con Hill breaks his own record again it won't be enough for some people to put him down as one of the greats.

No he doesn't have to do it on the clock,he's there to beat the opposition not run against himself.If you knew anything about the clock you would know times can only be compared on the same day and distance at the same course,not years apart.

I love the character of this horse and I hope he is with us for many years. But! He has only won 7-races. He suggest he is on the way to immortality is to curse the horse. You have to believe State Man is one of the greats to suggest Constitution Hill is one of the immortals. When Night Nurse, Monkfield, Sea Pigeon, etc, were winning Champion Hurdles there was other great horses in behind.

Nicky and the owners have made the right decision for the horse and for racing by keeping him around 2 miles over hurdles because he will do what he is asked with no instinct to protect himself from the excesses that ended the similarly willing Arkles career too early. The problem Nicky is going to have is protecting the horse from attacks from the gambling industry who will only make big money on him if he fails spectacularly. So he will have to check his staff for vulnerability to bribery or blackmail, and he will have to try to keep the horse covered up/side blinkers when jumping until after the last hurdle because of the laser light attack on the eyes of Annie Power when she lead over fences and "inexplicably misjudged and fell " when leading by some distance in a short odds race.

It's a tactic journalists and social media posters use to draw people towards an article or clip. I don't think a headline of Constitution Hill a good horse would quite have the same effect as a headline. Interesting you don't think Con Hill is a great horse yet. Do a course record demolition in the supreme followed up by a barely off the bridle romp in the champion hurdle only justify being good in your book? If he win's a second champion hurdle does that make him a great horse in your mind or does he need to win 3 or 4 before he proves the naysayers wrong?

He not worth anything out of racing he is a gelding and a National hunt horse. When he retire probably gets a year retirement and then sold as ridden horse honeysuckle would be worth more as a brood mare though she probably only breed for a few years then sold as a riding horse for someone as big studs only want flat stallions and mares they produce the National hunt horses and flat racehorses horses as the offspring is worth more money . Not being mean but the National hunt racehorses don’t get the opportunity as they don’t have the speed and Ireland and uk is the only country’s that have a big races for national hunt racehorses unfortunately so nobody as a interested in breeding them in other countries.

Someone asked about a match up of Constitution Hill and Istabaraq that will have been a mouth watering match up just the same as Frankel vs Dancing Brave Frankel is legendary but Dancing Brave was a Rolls Royce ride according to Pat Eddery back to the Hill against Istabaraq I believe the Hill will be too much to climb for Istabaraq though Istabaraq was a monster during his time
