Hi Dave, thanks for the build; very nice. I was going to say that it seems to me that virtually every antenna that involves booms, poles, etc.; except plain wire antennas, - that building it on a vertical post is nearly mandatory, so that you can support it, spin it, get at the top & bottom to adjust & tighten things... As I am 6'3", I figure a pole that's about 5 foot is just right. I can stand up & look down on it, or sit in a chair below it. Before you put it up on the tall pole for testing; please do some SWR & listening tests where it is, to illustrate how the SWR is impacted with differing heights. Thanks & 73, John - N7GHZ

I'd like to see what the SWR is and how it receives low to the ground to compare to how it performs up in the air on a pole. Also, it would be good to know how close they got the tuning or how much tuning one should plan on having to do.

Damn Dave ! How do you do it ? I mean just the prep work and setting up videos etc is a ton of work. Not to even mention the actual video itself. Glad your able to keep doing them....Dont overdo yourself though...73 OM ...N8QZH

Dave, great video, other than the wire and rope problem it went together very nicely. I am not sure I have the room for one but it sure was a lot easer then when I put up my AV-680. I will have to check but if I have room it would be something I would diffidently be interested in.

Nice antenna. At $479 it does seem a bit pricey to me. On the other hand, it does seem well made with fiberglass and stainless steel and all the cutting and fabricating done.

I wrote the guys from 73 antennas but they said only within couple months they will have a remote warehouse in Europe, namely Spain... As i am in Portugal, will have to wait because the freight from Australia to up here for such a big package will cost more than the antenna itself, probably... The antenna looks quite well done and easy to assemble. Looking forward for your testing video!! Thanks!!

Nice antenna, I am considering one. I would have bolted all but the balun arms down first. Then the lines to square it up. Then the radials. Ideally, if you had yourself and another, you could be attaching parts while the other person worked on the tangled radials. Looking forward to the next video on erecting the cobweb! 73, DE KB2WZT

I was going to buy the MFJ cobweb until I saw this video. The materials and construction methods are way better than MFJ’s antenna. I read many reviews of the MFJ’s materials were sub-par. When I saw this antenna I knew that the extra $50.00 was a smart move over the MFJ.

Dave, thank you for showing us this very interesting antenna. It's very well made with dipoles for 7 different bands all on the same framework. Kudos to your helper too. Does he have his license yet? (hint-hint) 73 de K7RMJ Frank

73 Antenna is smart because we don't use instructions anyway ;) Half of the fun is fumbling through the parts whilst figuring out how to put it together, and as a bonus there are usually extra parts laying around at the end of the build, that would have been wasted had we read the instructions. So, just say no to instructions, and use those extra parts for other ham projects! Cheers and 73 EDIT - On a serious note, it is nice 73 sent extra parts in case they are needed in the future. Also, the design is good enough where instructions are not needed, and this appears to be the case.

Dave, do you think, once complete assembled, it would be possible to fold and unfold the antenna (with a „individual mechanism“) for using it for a temporary mounting in a area of limited space? Unfolding it first at a „suitable height“. Like a Rotary dryer. 73‘, Stefan

Smaller cobwebs (10m - 20m) are sometimes shipped fully set up, tuned and folded like you say. All you have to do is unfold and secure the arms with the supplied screws. It would be very easy to reverse this proces... This one is twice the size of a 'normal' cobweb, so it won't be that easy...

If the manufacturer is stubbornly maintaining that no manual is needed, he certainly isn’t going to welcome feedback about winding the elements on cardboard formers.

Apparently manufacturers would rather fold the wire in half again and again rather than roll it up on a form. They should use their own products.
