How much are the operators making an hour ,considering it's expensive to live there.

Hawaii is actually moderately priced in the areas that locals live. It's only really really expensive in the areas where people buy vacation homes. Much more expensive in many areas of California.

@@scuph really? Because from the research I did, I found out of all the over priced places to live, the big island is considered the cheapest of the expensive islands. Maybe the smaller local towns on the islands are cheaper?
@scuph

@@danielpercent5434 Yeah and you won't find many rent listings in the locals neighborhoods publicly because they are predatory and don't want mainlanders in their community. Notice how most of the homes for rent are expensive with glass garage doors, renovated, etc. Those aren't for locals. My grandfather was born and raised in Hawaii when mainlanders started moving there and it has only gotten worse.

Hawaii is about as unionized as it can get in every industry. Based on people I've talked to that work as operators here it's between 70 and 90 an hour base pay depending on the type of equipment and company you work for

@@danielpercent5434 Pretty much everywhere on every island would be considered expensive by most people's standards. Hawaii consistently ranks top 3 in the highest cost of living year after year and it's only getting worse. The big island is the cheapest since it has the most land and is the least developed but once you get near the larger cities the prices reflect it. There simply isn't enough housing on the more populated islands so the prices are gouged and people just accept it because there's no other option. I've lived here my entire life.
