The fence has no gaps to allow airflow through. It'll be easily blown down in no time.

most of new constructions don't survive more than 50 years... while old buildings remain standing for centuries ...

Somewhere in the name of progress someone came up with the concept of a design life. Often 25 or 50 years then knock it down and rebuild. Makes the world and money go round!

That's right. We know that's because they are looking for more ways to cut corners and charge more money, so they can pit more money in their pockets. When we were growing up, people cared about their work. Building something that was reliable and would last, was a matter of pride. It's shameful.

It is all in the materials... many of those ancient buildings used serfs, slaves, indentured servants, peasants, etc.. and now not many can afford it. Just a reality

After living in all sorts of homes, some quite palatial, I’ve settled-into and determined that the simplest old house built with basic materials is best: debt is minimal, it’s very easy and inexpensive to maintain and fix, and if you travel a lot you just lock the doors and bail… zero fuss given.

@@_Noopy_ / Don’t follow societal norms of success: big house, new car, fancy stuff, pointless college degree, etc. Stuff just paralyzes you under debt. Buy a house that’s perhaps a bit small and in an out of way location: a fixer upper that’s not overpriced. Buy an old American car that anyone can fix: low taxes and insurance fees. Eat locally sourced food, stay away from processed garbage, and grow your own herb garden. Stop spending at Starbucks, stop the booze, and avoid mediocre restaurants. Find the cheapest phone and internet that does only what you actually need. Take the money you save and diversify assets that will become important in the coming financial transformation. Don’t advertise your wealth: remain humble and focus on your health and incremental improvements every day. Lastly, don’t associate with others who tend to reject these sensibilities and create problems.

Interesting. But about putting up the fence: it's laughable. You don't build a rigid fence this way. We put up a post; then the panels and we add the last post. This prevents damage from carrying the (very heavy) plates.
