Re: Sexual Arousal and Energy Discussion: The following applies more in the context of singles rather than consenting partners: Let's state the obvious up front. Both women and men get sexually aroused with contact improv dance. The main difference is that men have a much harder time to conceal it (no pun intended). And then women complain that men are aroused and it does not feel safe and so on. But is that fair to men who are just trying to dance and go with the flow? Imagine if women also had an appendage that became visibly erect. Should they remove themselves? Should they apologize? Are they necessarily being sexual/aggressive if they happen to brush against someone during dance? So I think that men have an unfair challenge, when it's already a challenge for many to be vulnerable and go with the flow in an environment like that. For sure, there are men using the context to be sexual and at times aggressive. There is zero place for that. But to be fair, I have also seen plenty of times where women either see/feel/sense that a man is aroused and intentionally brush up, become more overtly sexual, and so on to flirt, play with them, perhaps embarrass them, and so on. So I think there needs to be an honest and adult conversation about it.
@BeingMotionIS2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your reflection. Not sure about the upfront obvious truth you affirm: all get aroused while dancing CI. That might happen or not, specially while taking the first steps in the dance form..
@lesezeichen16032 жыл бұрын
I am practicing CI since a long time and it was never a discussion between dancers in terms of who gets aroused in which way, a visible arousal was NEVER happening. I am not sure how much practice of the dance form you have?? If touch feels safe or not, if something is consent or not, sexy or not is also a big question of socialization, of reading bodies, of being clear about own feelings, about accepting borders, the own and the one of others. CI can be a challenge in that, of course, but as it is mainly about dance, there are plenty paths which I do not see here in this comment. Having a grown-up conversation about gender roles, about differences in perception, physical aspects, society--of course, yes. And at the same time: besides this political and emotional important work: I can only repeat myself: in years and years I never had problems with that, as the dance and dancers itself bring solutions for staying stuck in one zone...searching who is right and who is wrong or guilt...is not the main matter.

The choreography looks like a choreography for a song about a problematic relationship that becomes trouble. I don't know though. The comments doesn't say what I say. The woman one seems like she's trying to run away and trying to find ocassion to take revenge after the man one maltreats her. Maybe that's just my subliminal.🤷😄
@BeingMotionIS2 жыл бұрын
... Definitely a creative interpretation of this moment of dance practice! By the way this is a complet improvisation, based on a somatic dialogue, playing with the physics of weight in motion... bodies combining and relating rather in an abstract conversation, speaking through weight, tempo and space.
@gorkemomertasknckhbsakasi2 жыл бұрын
@@BeingMotionIS So, the definition in Wikipedia is correct, huh? That's great. :) It will take my time to understand the themes of that genre of dance because I'm new as you might have guessed.🙊 Thanks.😇

@@gorkemomertasknckhbsakasi hey! Yes if you have the possibility you can try out a class or a workshop! Then you'll have a direct experience.
@gorkemomertasknckhbsakasi2 жыл бұрын
@@BeingMotionIS Yes, "if". But thanks. In Turkey, people don't give importance to art so I don't think I can find any course of that dance unless there are direct courses.
